Original DragonBall is pretty good, it's a typical shounen adventure show. If you like comedy or martial arts, it should be up your alley. DBZ, the sequel, should be watched in the form of the remake, Dragon Ball Z Kai. (It cuts out the filler) The story in it is a bit more action-y and dramatic than DB, so it comes down to taste. I don't do this normally, but I'd also recommend the english dub over the japanese cast as well. If you're willing to sit down through 300 episodes of an anime, go for it.
It's...uh, what the series is known for. People aren't kidding when they say it takes multiple episodes to unleash a single attack ;A;

Is basically about 100 episodes ending at the 3 important plot point that would be siginificantly faster. powering up, fighting, and talking. the whole 5 minute thing was actually a miscalculation of the villan expectation for something to happen and everybody then assumed it was 5 minutes duration fight when its actually more.Seriously? What do they do with all that time?
