I have had a similar thread a few years ago.

So I have been an amazon customer since 2006~
I remember how fast the shipping and delivery was. Even though estimated delivery used to be quite slow, everything almost got delivered next day, if not the day after.

Ever since prime was introduced, its been getting slower and slower. To the point that I am forced to get amazon prime.

I have about 5 different open orders which says "shipping today" for a week now and since estimated delivery is still a few days away, their customer service is unable to provide me any further information and help me.

Whereas prime members get guaranteed next day... I mean, if you can get the item shipped out, why not at least ship it out? I dont care how long it takes to get to me after being shipped out.

Almost everything in the UK on amazon comes through their own logistics(so next day delivery after item gets shipped), which is why prime members are getting prioritised.

Just really frustrated :/ whats your opinion on prime?

My experiance is basically the exact opposite.

I don't have prime, even without it, I can't fault Amazon. Using free delivery and most of my stuff ships next day and since they introduced Amazon logistics, even gets delivered on Sundays :). Can't fault them at all, certainly don't feel like I'm being forced to go prime.

Well, now it definitely gets delivered next day if the item is shipped. But hardly ever shipping quick enough...

Prime is usefull if you buy a lot from Amazon. I buy, maybe, one thing per year...
Also, 20€/year is not very much
I have like over 100 orders this year already lol.

Then what's the problem? They haven't gone past their estimate. That's what you get for choosing the cheap shipping method.

This has been my experience as well. They can take about a week to even ship the item if you are not a Prime member, which is longer than anyone else I have done business with, including those that offer free shipping.

Thats estimated delivery date. But its past the shipping date.

Like I mentioned in my post, for all I care, they could use china post to send my stuff. I dont specifically need their logistics. Just ship out the bloody items.

Most of mine ship next day. I have the occasional thing that takes a while to actually ship, but most of my orders ship either next day or day after. Very rarely do I get an item that just sits there for days. Ordered a keyboard on Saturday, shipped Sunday, here monday using the free delivery. That's pretty much my experiance with 9/10 items.

I've used Prime more for the video service, they have more obscure, cult, B-movie stuff than Netflix for instance. However, in the next coming months I'll rely on the shipping aspect and deals, especially the 20% off physical games deal. I have to renew this month actually.

What pisses me of more is when sellers charge exuberant p&p to cover the shortfall, i'm sure many lie about the dispatch date too it's more like 2 days afterwards.

I haven't noticed any difference with orders from Amazon. I have always been satisfied with the free postage. For example, I ordered some books at 2pm on Monday, chose free postage (estimated 3-5 days) and they arrived the next day.

Now the marketplace is a different matter. There is no consistency at all with marketplace sellers. Some of them are excellent and get things sent within the free shipping period, others are terrible and seem to take much longer.

In my opinion, the marketplace is the worst thing to happen to Amazon. Before the marketplace, you knew that if you orders from Amazon, it came from Amazon; if you wanted to take a chance on an unknown seller for a slightly cheaper price, or a more unusual item, you used eBay. Now, Amazon can be just as uncertain as eBay.

I wouldn't say they're trying to force it, but Amazons popularity has recently blown up in last few years, so more sellers means more of a chance of a seller being unreliable on shipping. I would say Amazon Prime is worth it thou, its only 100 bucks a year, and plus it has Amazon Video too which has a decent sized collection

When I buy something from their marketplace, I prefer to buy things that say "fulfilled by Amazon", since that means Amazon ships it (eligible for Prime too!), and if there's a problem, you deal with Amazon, instead of whoever's actually selling it.

If you're ordering things from amazon all the time I recommend just getting prime. Its easily worth the money if you use them alot.

No prime here either, and it seems like they take forever to ship anything out anymore, even though it still arrives before the estimated delivery time. My last order a few weeks ago I made on a Monday and the estimated delivery was like the following Tuesday. Apparently my stuff just sat around until it finally shipped that Friday and it arrived on Sunday - two days early. Nevermind I could have had it the week before if they'd just pulled it and shipped it. I've also seen certain items that only prime members can order, so yeah.

They don't force it, it's just that the people updating don't know what they're doing.
It didn't help that they tricked people into downloading when pressing X. Traditionally on any application the x is to close it and should mean "leave me the hell alone"

I guess they wanted to hit that 1 billion goal so desperately.

I decided to renew my prime as I thought the service was up to scratch. I've ended up putting my vidya gaem buying to Base and TGC who generally are competitive and great for releases especially when you get that fancy new game a few days before the street date.
