Yifan Lu Announces HENKaku - A New Native Vita Homebrew Enabler for 3.60.

Earlier today, Yifan Lu, a well-known member of the Vita hacking scene famous for the Rejuvenate hack for the Dev Assistants, has announced that a new (native!) Vita homebrew enabler for the latest firmware version, as of writing (3.60), will be arriving tomorrow at "9:00AM UTC".

The new hack, known as "HENKaku", will require the following:
  • A Vita/PSTV running 3.60
  • A memcard with at least 10MB of free space (internal memory is currently not supported!)
  • An FTP client
  • An internet connection**
**Offline support is now available! Launch the exploit straight from the email app without the need for internet access at all! See the unofficial release thread for more details. (Internet connection still required for installation)

This is a small paragraph of Yifan Lu himself explaining what the properties of this new homebrew enabler does:

HENkaku simply lets you install homebrew as bubbles in LiveArea. It is a native hack that disables the filesystem sandbox. It installs molecularShell, a fork of VitaShell that lets you access the memory card over FTP and install homebrew packages (which we create as VPK files). With vita-toolchain, developers have access to the same system features licensed developers have access to as well as undocumented features that licensed developers cannot use (including overclocking the processors).

The hack has been released at http://henkaku.me ~ Furthermore, the hack is said to be exclusive to 3.60, and there is to be no backports for the time being.

In the land of IRC, launching Near via browser not working was brought up.
This came from it: http://hastebin.com/axasatiqeq.xml
I make no promises it'll work, but it may be useful.
What IRC is that, #henkaku? I'd like to ask some questions about that method. I tried replacing the instances of "mailto" with "ux0" in the app.db, and yes, it opens the mail app now instead of app.db, but I don't see the game manual. Am I missing something here?

It's [redacted, I regret all the things] (RIP secrets I'm sorry) but I don't see that person about, nor do I know if they'd be willing to answer questions.

Oh nevermind, I did it! I forgot to put this:

Thanks so much for the help!

EDIT: I must be missing a step or something, because even with the manual loaded in Near, this happens on FTP:
Status: Starting download of /ux0:/app/PCSE00491/icon.png
Command: CWD /ux0:/app/PCSE00491
Response: 550 Invalid directory.
Command: SIZE /ux0:/app/PCSE00491/icon.png
Response: 550 The file doesn't exist.
Command: MDTM /ux0:/app/PCSE00491/icon.png
Response: 502 Sorry, command not implemented. :(
Command: TYPE I
Response: 200 Okay
Command: PASV
Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,18,197,250)
Command: RETR /ux0:/app/PCSE00491/icon.png
Response: 550 File not found.
Error: Critical file transfer error
Either that or all vs0 apps are patched to prevent this and nobody has actually dumped anything yet.

Wondering the same thing myself. The only VPK file I've got is the Whitelist, and THAT only supports Vita games, not PSP games. Rarrgh.

Is there a configuration file somewhere that we can modify to stretch PS1 games to full screen? PSTV users miss out on this feature

How? The guide say that you need pc connected to internet; in this way he dont check the last fw and install it?

Update using a USB flash drive
Download the update file to your computer, and then save it on the USB flash drive. Copy the saved file to your PS TV system to update the system.

The following things are needed to perform the update:

  • PS TV system
  • Computer (Windows®/Mac)
The computer must connect to the Internet.
  • USB flash drive.
There must be 150 MB of free space.
    • On the USB flash drive, create folders for saving the update file.
Using a computer, create a folder named "PSVITA" on the USB flash drive. Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE".
    • Download the update file, and save it in the "UPDATE" folder you created in step 1.Save the file with the file name "PSVUPDAT.PUP".

      Click to start the download.
    • Turn off the power of your PS TV system completely.
    • Press and hold the Power button on your PS TV system for at least 7 seconds to turn on the power. The system starts in safe mode.
    • Connect a controller using a USB cable, and then press then PS button.
    • Select [Update System Software] > [Update from USB Storage Device].
    • Connect the USB flash drive that the update file is saved on to your PS TV system. Follow the screens to complete the update.

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
