Homebrew Is there a way to launch usb loader gx as soon as you've entered the homebrew channel?

Hi! I recently bought a black wii console that already has installed homebrew channel + usb loader gx. I bought this for my nephews and i already have some games installed in an HDD that i already had. The reason i was thinking is for them to avoid messing up the wii by doing things they shouldn't so i was thinking if it was possible to tell homebrew to directly go to the usb loader. I will try to get the versions of the apps the console came with, but i assume they're a bit old.

regards,

Hi! Thanks for the reply. The thing is i still want them to eventually have the option to play phisical discs. But i was wondering if what i asked is possible.
edit: nevermind i didn't read properly, that option is also a good one, how do i create a channel for this ?

regards,

Another way of doing this would be installing a "Forwarder Channel" for USB Loader GX and hide the Homebrew Channel icon on one of the later pages.

That's what I did when I needed something simple for non-technical people using Wiis ;)

Ill try to get to know which ios i have installed, but on homebrew i have these apps:

It's also possible to use Priiloader to make the Wii boot directly to USB Loader GX (or the homebrew channel).

Use the forwader channel.Its very useful.Each time you do not need to get into homebrew channel.

Seems i have the following apps installed: in the sd card:

apps:
|----->WAD Manager 1.5
|----->usbloadergx
|----->cIOS38 rev14 Installer
|----->cIOS222 v4 Installer

wad:
|----->USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad

I assume that the wad manager might install the channel?

Anyway i will try installing these you mentioned.

Ok so i just downloaded the newest version of usb loader gx, and the forwarder, as the Yet Another WAD Manager.
For another wad manager do i need to get one of the other bool files or can i just use the one in the zip file?
Also after putting all of these in a new sd card, do i need to maintain any of the other files or can i start fresh? I'm talking about these:

Apps:
|----->cIOS38 rev14 Installer
|----->cIOS222 v4 Installer
|----->AnyTitleDeleterDB
|----->Dop-IOS MOD v9gp

I also currently have many wads in the root that i don't know if i need:

IOS15-64-v257.wad
IOS15-64-v523.wad
IOS36-64-v3351.wad
IOS37-64-v3869.wad
....

Nevermind all, seems this was used with the WeHackWii package installer originally and can be removed.

The config loader seems to have the game covers used by the usb loader so i guess these go too.
For the newest usb loader gx do i need to install any other ios versions? Or am i set?
After all this i only need to run the wad manager and install the wad for the forwareder?

Ok i copied everything to the sd card, but when i try to install the forwarder it asks which ios version to use and the initial one is 249 but i when i choose that it doesnt seem to do anything. Am i doing something wrong?

Edit: went to the homebrew channel options and it seems the version is 1.1.0 and is using the ios58 v24.32 should i use this version in the wad manager instead?

Looks like you have no cIOS installed in slot 249.

Follow these steps and you should be fine: https://sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers/installation

the homebrew you had on your SD card are VERY outdated, I wouldn't recommend installing them. rev14 could even damage some consoles (If I remember correctly, console serial LEH....)
I recommend you delete your old homebrew and keep only the one Raulpica provided. If you even want them again, there are newer version of each.

When you install the channel, do not select "emuNAND" (or NAND emulator), you will want to install the channel to the real NAND (the internal memory of the console).

the loader has a lot of parental control settings, you can block menus or even hide some games one by one or by using the game's parental level.
I suggest you download Wiitdb (game database which contains all the game's information, such as parental level)

in the loader :
settings > update > Wiitdb
settings > features > use wiitdb : ON

Then you can lock the loader using the top right icon near the disc icon (don't forget to set a password in the parental control menu, and select the parental level for the games)

if i uninstall the forwarder wad i assume it will uninstall the channel?
If you delete the wad from the SD, it will do nothing.
if you want to uninstall the channel from the console, you will need the WAD file again, and select "uninstall" from the wad manager.

I don't know what you did, but that's what you said on your previous post.
Anyway, you won't need to install a WAD anymore, so it's fine to not know what you did. I can explain if you really want, but that's unnecessary information for the moment.

What the does lock option does? I assume it locks all the options buttons?

it enabled the parental control, and locks all the menus you selected in the parental menu.

settings>parental menu
choose all the option and button you want to restrict to your kids/nephew, set a level for the games you want to display, and set a password here.
when you lock the loader, it will hide games if they have a higher level, and will prevent the user to select the menus or button without disabling the lock.
The lock is memorized on reboot if you set a password, so it will stay locked even if he reboots.

you can edit the option displayed in the home menu too, if you want to prevent access to HBC:
Settings>Gui settings>Home menu

Though, I think users reported the big "wii" button doesn't have the parental control set on it and users can still exit to hbc.. I will have to fix that.

Nice. By the way can you actually limit the access to any channel in the wii? I was thinking of limiting access to the homebrew channel and instead the kids would use the usb loader channel instead for playing the games. Still i think if thats not possible i will move the homebrew channel in the last page and remove the apps from the folder.
Im also contemplating the possibility of them actually purchasing a game and then the game asks for an update and kill the the homebrew channel. I was under impression that the cIOS revision option actually said:

  • This revision is only used by the Wii when checking updates. You can set the version to maximum (65535) to prevent any future updates from overwriting it (the installer can still overwrite it).
Will this solve the problem where games ask for updates?

you can completely disable system menu access and launch USBLoaderGX at boot, but I think you still want to launch games from disc so it's not the best solution.
There's no other way to restrict a channel.

Setting the version to 65535 will indeed prevent a game launched from disc from asking to update and will prevent overwriting the cIOS with a dummy (stub) version from nintendo.
HBC will not be removed when launching a game or updating the console if you already are on 4.3.

    One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

    I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs

    I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
