It's been three hours, and I've lost my cool...

I'm trying to manually update the Vita to 3.18 using the offline method. Qcma finds the console, but as soon as I click on "Update by Connecting to a PC", the Vita disconnects, and the error message is "The latest version of the system software is already installed. (C3- 12049-6)".
I also noticed that when I try to refresh Qcma's database, it says "No PS Vita system has been registered", doesn't matter is the Vita is connected or not.

Here's a few screenshots of my settings:

I'll go mad if I don't solve this :(

Is the psvita registered? Could that be causing this problem? I seem to remember that it is possible to register the psvita while offline by transferring a game to the psvita from a ps3.

In the link the update file is psp2updat.pup. You are using psvupdat.pup. I might be mistaken but I thought the psvita required the actual update file to be named psp2updat.pup.

Tried that way too, still nothing.
Maybe I should just give up. After all I'm already at 3.15, I don't think much will change with 3.18, right?

One last try. I noticed the xml file you used is different from the one in the link.

You might try the attached one. This time only replace "your username" with your username and don't edit anything else.

For the last try I re-downloaded your file, renamed the PUP, everything. It just doesn't work.
I do appreciate your efforts :) Do you know of any big or small difference between 3.15 and 3.18?

Thank you for the link :) I suppose I'll just stay on 3.15, I hope there won't be a big difference in required firmware when it comes to buying games...
Yes, the PUP file is in the right place.

I made a quick account just to reply to you. I had the same problem and the solution is this.

Place the .xml file where the actual QCMA file directory is located. It does not belong in the PS VITA Updates folder that everyone has been saying it belongs in.

Example:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Content Manager Assistant\psp2-updatelist.xml (make back up of original .xml file)

That is where the ACTUAL .xml file is located. Just replace that file with the custom .xml file that you have seen floating around the internet.

The problem is you don't have the Vita driver installed. This happened to me too.

1) Download CMA (Content Manager Assistant)---when installing do not uncheck anything this will install LibUSB type B for Ps Vita. (However, the driver wont be correctly installed)
2) Google up "zadig"
3) Download Zadig, open zadig, make sure it shows LibUSB Type B, then click "Install driver", then click the Down arrow next to Install Driver and Click "Install WCID (Or something thats like WCID, I don't remember) Driver"
4) Restart computer.
5) Close CMA, open QCMA. CMA will autostart on computer startup, disable it.

Thank you guys both for taking the time to help me further with this :)
I'm still at 3.15 at the moment, and I'll wait a while before getting Henkaku. When the day will come that I'll need to manually update to 3.60 I'll check your suggestions again.
I appreciate your interest :)

One more thing. After I just sent that post to help you out, I had another error that prevented me to update the psvita.

The error was that the vita needs to connect to some sort of website in order to trick it to think that the device is getting the update from a Sony web server. That means that you have to change the directories where the update will be at and have it in a specific way that Sony has set up their folder directories to make the device think that it is getting the update from Sony. (You can't just put the update file in a specific folder and call it done, like how you did.)

This is the quote from wololo that was the solution to the last part of this problem:

someonecool wrote:Thanks, this was easy...Jumpped up to 1.80 to play a newer game..

For those with out a webserver and have Windows 7 ultimate/professional, (programs and features, Add remove Windows features)install IIS(web server), dump your files in the root of the website (the folders), go into the settings add a MIME type. pup and file/file(to the root site). Restart website

Then go to
http://localhost/rel/psp2updat.pup and it will start downloading the file...(good) test each folder one by one to confirm it offers you to download it. Update you XML with the new local host address for each file and run it...Worked perfect for me..

Setting up a server on windows 7 ultimate is extremely simple after watching a youtube video or two on how to set up a localhost server on Windows. If you don't have windows then, atleast find an alternative.

Example of how I set up the directories in the local server.

Directories.PNG

Example of how the xml file should look like and where to put it.
xml.PNG

I followed the example exactly how Zett has his local server set up from his video, the only difference is that he hosted his directories and his PSP2UPDAT.PUP files on his website at the time.

Good luck on everything. I am enjoying the psvita hacked with henkaku with all kinds of custom made vpks.
