Recently got a n3ds and got a9lh installed successfully. I'd like to be able to have my friendcode/friendslist from my o3ds but it's bricked at the moment. Is their a way I can extract my EmuNAND out of a backup, or should I hardmod and just use the system transfer tool?

Nope. Gotta hardmod and fix it.

So why would he need to hardmod his 3ds in order to extract it?
My thoughts exactly. If it's on the SD, it should be able to be extracted. It seems the question wasn't about flashing the emunand back to the bricked 3ds, but more just having the emunand backup from the card. This tool will extract your emunand from the SD card. I don't think you'll be able to do much with your backup though. You can't put it on a different console as they're console specific backups. Maybe a smarter member will come along and know if you can do anything with your emunand backup.

He wants to extract his friend list from it. That's the issue.

True, and seeing as how there are ways to downgrade from 11.0 by messing with a nand backup, maybe you could somehow find the friends list in it too? It seems like a long shot. But like I said, let's wait for a smarter member who can say if it's possible to do what he needs or not.

I'm just throwing out an idea here but couldn't you just use EmuNand9 on the n3ds to extract his o3ds emunand to a file, create a new emunand from that file, and use something like GodMode9 in sysnand to browse/extract files from the emunand? The only thing he'd have to do is clone the SD to microsd since n3ds can't use SD.

I know with JKSM it's possible to import/export the friends list so I'd assume it's possible to grab whatever file he needs with GodMode9. I never used GodMode though and I have no idea if this is even possible.. but still it's a decent theory.

No, the emunand and sysnand they are unique for console.
