I have a CycloDS, at the time I got it it was one of the best... but support wavered. The last update was in 2011, there is no 3rd party firmware, and there are many games that don't run without anti-piracy patches (such as Pokemon Black and White) or even WITH those patches still crash (like Solatorobo).

I originally had an R4, but due to massive lack of support of many many games at the time, I replaced it with a CycloDS, though I think there is 3rd party firmware now that surpasses the CycloDS, but I don't think I have that R4 anymore.

So, since I am hoping DS carts are cheap now since the 3DS is now almost on the way out, are there any DS carts that are still supported and can play all or practically all games without needing any kind of patch? Would be nice if it worked in a 3DS too, but it's getting it workign in a DS that I mostly care about.... and being compatible with my EZFlash 3-in-1 GBA-slot cart for my DS.

I have an R4. I can play almost every game without fail or trouble. My R4 works flawlessly....

and no I don't think so. The DS scene is dead by the looks of it.

The R4i Gold 3DS RTS would be the best card to go for you. It supports almost all ROMs, the EZ-Flash 3in1 Expansion pack and is compatible with the 3DS if you plan to update one day.
It doesn't have support any more but that's not necessary because it hits almost 100% compatibility and has almost every usefull feature you could want and that's possible with the hardware.

I actually have a launch model 3DS and a hacked N3DS that I just got, I updated long ago, but my CycloDS did not work on the 3DS, and on top of that it's just easier to use my DS to play DS games than my 3DS.

I tried searching for the R4i Gold, but all sites seemed to only have the original R4 or the 3DS version of it.

The R4i RealTimeSave 3DS has been Updated a few Months ago, so...

Edit: http://r4i-sdhc.com i got mine from
Don't suggest this buggy bullshit.

I thought those 3DS ones were just for the 3DS?
There are DS mode flashcards for 3DS which work with DS as well and 3DS mode flashcards which only work with the 3DS.
I highly recommend you to get http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=149, it's the only card that got suggested which supports the 3in1 expansion pack from within the kernel.
