Hi all, sorry for a noob post, haven't been following for a year or so.
Back then it was FunkyCIA to download CIAs with your own ticket.db. What now?
Heard that there is CIAngel now, what exactly it does? Same as FunkyCIA but no need to dump ticket.db first?

Or simply put, ignore all the above, say I have an O3DS below 9.2, can I or can I not now download CIAs to be installed on SysNAND for:
1. Games I bought with that machine
2. Games I bought with other machine/NNID
3. Games I never bought
so that I can play the games (including NES/GB/GBC/GBA/NDSi) on that O3DS SysNAND without CFW?

Wouldn't mind you suggest me to "search" but please also provide some info as I would not know what I searched is outdated or still current. Thanks.

------------------
Edited to remove "legit" as it is used to refer to a list of pre-installed games, but I merely asking about CIAs thats installable on SysNAND.

Differences between points 1, 2, 3 are:
1. Tickets linked to that machine
2. Tickets linked to other machine/NNID
3. Dont have ticket

Thanks, installation can use CFW, just playing without, can this now be done?
if you literally only wanted legit cia's then you can install them without CFW or with CFW and then continue to play them without CFW but if you wanted any non legit CIA then you're better off simply installing CFW and sticking with it

I think you're confused the term legit CIA refers to a game that can come pre-installed on the system it has nothing to do with whether or not you legit purchased it from the store
legit cia just means that nothing has been tampered with and everything is as it was since nintendo signed it.
whether that is a preinstalled game, or system apps, or a 'perfect' dump bought purchase (which still cannot be installed yet lol) - it doesn't matter.

Honestly I've been trying but your line of questioning is slightly off games that you bought from the eShop on your machine or any other connected to your nnid will not be legit cia's if you bought the system and it already had say Animal Crossing installed then that Animal Crossing would be what you would consider a legit CIA so long as it was posted on the internet without being disturbed that covers points 1 and 2 as far as .3 those other types of game files will not be quote legit cia's they will be available as non legit CIAs on that iso site

Like cearp and wormdood are telling you, Legit CIA are CIAs that keep Nintendo's signature, which are only pre-installed games, FunkyCIA could never download legit CIAs outside the preinstalled ones (and ones tied with your console but that's a different topic).

But as for the new stuff in the scene, now there's a public encTitleKeys.bin made by the community that holds most of the games tickets, so you can use that to download most of the eShop catalog, there's also many applications for 3DS that works with it, like freeShop (A eShop game browser with a nice UI and search function), CIAngel (similar to freeShop), Shameless so you can easily download them to your 3DS without having to search for the CIA. FBI also supports installing CIAs and Tickets from QR codes, in general, pirating has never been so easy and confortable.

But again, in the Legit CIA department, you can still only install the same Pre-installed games. For the rest you still need CFW.

Thanks heaps. Let me rephrase what you just said in my own terms and see if this noob (me) still misunderstood anything.
1. Legit CIA refer to pre-installed game, with proper signature.
2. Previously, FunkyCIA requires you to supply the ticket (games you own)
3. Advance in the scene is now tickets are shared among the community in encTitleKeys.bin so you can get CIAs you dont own
4. Even so, CIAs created with tickets within encTitleKeys.bin ARE NOT INSTALLABLE NOR PLAYABLE on SysNAND, need CFW to bypass sig. check in order to play them
5. Nothing has changed so far in the scene about installing "perfect" CIAs (i.e. CIAs created with your ticket.db) onto SysNAND

You got all right, I don't wanna confuse you more with info that's kinda useless to this point but, like cearp mentioned, FunkyCIA can actually make a LEGIT CIA for purchased games exclusive for your unique console with your consle's tickets.db. Sadly, these comes with a consoleid (which determines that it works for your console only) and no CIA manager can install CIAs with consoleids. Probably because nobody is aware such CIAs exist. So at this point in time, it's useless and the only compatible Legit CIAs are the preinstalled ones (Since they come with a global consoleid).

(By the way, "consoleid" is just a term I made out, i do not know the proper name but it's an unique id related to your console).

im home now here are the links i would have given you were i not previously at work

free shop . . . title key fetching program
just to clear the air here. . . legit cia info . . . legit cia list
also
4. Even so, CIAs created with tickets within encTitleKeys.bin ARE NOT INSTALLABLE NOR PLAYABLE on SysNAND, need CFW to bypass sig
most cfw can be run on sysnand as well as emunand so you can sig-patch on sysnand but then you would need to keep the cfw in order to play/load the game/app

edit: most people use a sysnand only version of cfw now if that interest you here is the premier guide

Thanks mate, this is also one of the stuff I have been hoping to see it solved in the scene but after a year nothing had changed in this regard
