It runs pretty well on my laptop coming from Windows 7, and seems a bit faster too.
Same for my desktop coming from Windows 8.1. Luckily I haven't had any driver issues or anything like that, so it's a solid update for me. Been using it around the time it released and I'm pleased thus far.

I followed this easy guide:

Step 1: Make a system image of your current system
Step 2: Make a bootable USB stick
Step 3: Update to Windows 10 through GWX
Step 4: Link my Windows account for reinstallation purposes later on
Step 5: Restore system image from step 1

Now I can wait until Microsoft makes some better fixes/tweaks and still retain my free copy!

I think it would be smart for Microsoft to extend the Windows 10 free upgrade offer, considering their goal is to get as many people on Windows 10 as possible.

I have it on both of my laptops, and I need to update my mom's computer manually because of the graphics card preventing the automatic upgrade. She's the one that voiced the interest in it, although I do wish she stay on 7, although I did break it just a little so perhaps updating can smooth out some of the bugs.

I'm going to wait for the last day to make sure that all the major and most common bugs are gone.
you can upgrade now, downgrade later and still keep your windows 10 serial key, but you can also choose windows 7.
if you wait until later, you have to pay for it, unless you upgraded earlier, so you can use the serial key you got

I am busy getting the Windows 10 Pro licenses for all of my machines, any home premium ones go to ultimate (thanks DAZ:grog:) first then I upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. Windows 8 Home machines go to Windows 7 ultimate first then to Windows 10

Afterward, I wipe them and do a clean install of Windows 10 Pro (ei.cfg edited to allow selection of Pro)
I am also converting all my Legacy installs to GPT/UEFI also, and using Clover EFI to boot GPT/UEFI Windows for the machines that do not support UEFI mode.

I was using 8.1 for the longest time, then decided to go to 10 since I just have it in a virtual machine.

also, fuck Microsoft's tactics to push Windows 10 on as many users as possible, including automatic unwanted upgrades. it doesn't matter how good 10 is, forcing people to use it is going to make users resist it. I really can't wait for this offer to end(it's going to be extended, obviously...)

the way it handles licenses can be somewhat annoying... I had the insider preview in a VM, but after upgrading to it, it can't be activated anymore because it apparently wasn't before, even though it was. I tried to just reinstall in another virtual machine due to how the digital entitlement works (it did work before), but since I went to the insider preview that no longer works.
