Hi guys

I have 2 n3ds

Both of them was delivered with 9.0

I kept one in 9.0 : I installed menuhax and using both reinand and gateway to access the emunand

I would like to obtain the same result with my second one that was updated to 10.3

In its early days I performed a nand backup (9.0)

I would like to know if I can restore the nand backup with gateway menu, instead of using the downgrade way normally used ?

Thanks for your help
Fred

You need to have ARM9 kernel access to perform any NAND read-writes, which is not possible to obtain on firmware 9.3 and above. So GW or any other method won't work like this without ARM9 access.

You need to first downgrade to 9.2, which basically uses ARM11 with AM access to downgrade titles. After that you can use GW menu using any avaiable exploit.

Thanks

After downgrade to 9.2 can I restore 9.0 nand.bin? I want something clean
Yes. I'm sure that is your actual intention that is why I didn't suggest you to downgrade to 9.0 (downgrade to 9.2 guide is readily avaiable). Once you able to load GW menu on 9.2 you can select the Restore NAND option to write your 9.0 NAND.bin
MAKE SURE IT IS THAT SAME CONSOLE NAND.BIN

You can use this one. Don't forget to format the N3DS before downgrading.

Code:
    {
      title = "Gateway";
      path = "/3ds/GW/GW.3dsx";
    },

Add that into your boot.cfg.

Assuming you placed the GW.3dsx file inside a folder title GW, inside your 3ds folder..

Yes, you should edit the boot.cfg file to add this to your entries:

Code:
{
  title = "Gateway";
  path = "/3ds/GW/GW.3dsx";
},

For example:
Code:
entries =
(
    {
       title = "ReiNand";
       path = "/ReiNand.dat";
       offset = "0x12000";
    },
    {
       title  = "rxTools";
       path = "/rxTools/sys/code.bin";
       offset = "0x12000";
    },
    {
       title = "Gateway";
       path = "/3ds/GW/GW.3dsx";
    },
    {
       title  = "HomeBrewMenu";
       path = "/boot_hb.3dsx";
    },
    // other stuff...
);

EDIT: Ninja'd properly by @Temptress Cerise. :ph34r:
