The topic pretty much says it all - I'm curious about what games you feel push the system to its limits, and beyond its expectations.
Every system has a handful of these.

for a non-new 3ds game, the monster hunter series is incredible at what it can display on the small 3ds screen
Monster Hunter is known for being amazing at this. MHTri/3G on the Wii looked beautiful as all hell.

Better than xenoblad chronicles? :creep:
Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii was one of these; it pushed the system far beyond its capabilities. I'm not going to argue on which is "better", since that's highly subjective.

Xenoblade Chronicles on the New 3DS looks nice and plays very well, but the texture quality was turned down a lot - mainly for a smaller ROM size, but also because even with the extra RAM given, there's not enough for very high-resolution textures.

Well i'm not behind the scene doing the stuff but the logic and reasoning, if porting was easier than emulation? Why didn't they port SNES games to 3ds? the 3ds IS CLEARLY HAS BETTER HARDWARE THAN SNES considering the age gap being over 20 years old. :huh:
That's not how it works, though.

Porting a game requires source code, or intricate knowledge of the game in question. It's also a large effort to port between two very incompatible systems - 3DS and SNES, for instance.
Emulating a game is a lot easier to accomplish, but it requires more resources.

For example - Super Mario Maker contains an accurate port of the physics and behavior of Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros., but they needed to write custom code, and extract the assets from the ROM, in order to create the game on the Wii U.

Porting is literally remaking the game to work on a different system.

Emulation is asking one system to emulate the functions of another (You're basically asking a system to "run" an entirely separate system).

Porting is simpler than emulation, but the caveat is you basically need everything used to build the previous game. Another issue is porting requires a lot of time for each individual game. Everything needs to be developed on it's own.

Emulators can run the original games in their original format, but requires much more power to do so.

Porting requires rewriting every single game. Emulating just requires creating an emulator once, then injecting the rom. Yes, the same rom that you might download from your preferred rom site and run on catsfc.

Porting is easier if you're releasing one game. Emulation is much easier if you're releasing more than one game.
