You wont even notice a difference between the dstwo+ and the original dstwo unless your using gateways files

You should be using custom firmware for 3ds games though.

no i don't own a ds two and since they don't sell them anymore im going to have to buy a dstwo+ i was wondering if there were problems with build quality and if it would randomly brick things if i leave the 3ds mode off

oh and i don't really plan on using gateway at all maby a little homebrew so the gateway mode in this card is pretty much useless to me to much work and to much risk

haha good question actually! :D
I think you would have to copy the gateway files to your sd to start it, just dont copy them to your sd and you should be fine!

Would the gateway mode (i.e. 3ds roms) of the DSTWO+ work on a n3ds? If so, how can I make it work with a9lh+luma?

Gateway firmware 3.5 and above bricks ANY console that isn't using Gateway's genuine flashcart. You can safely use Gateway 3.4.1 with a DSTWO+, thou.

I don´t know if the latest DS2+ launcher works with latest gateway software...
To make it work you would have to use the gateway arm9loaderhax file.

Yes just dont copy any gateway files to your dstwo.
For 3DS homebrew you would have to get an entrypoint game, unless browserhax is available for your firmware.
