Is it possible to migrate from one system to another (both on a9lh with the latest firmware) without using system transfer?

I want to be able to migrate all my titles, gba games, saves, themes, etc. to the second system. I've tried System Transfer and it doesn't work, I've also tried transfering the titles.db from one system to the other and it just gives me a black screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Trying this right now, for simplicity's sake 1 is the previous N3DS and 2 is the current N3DS.

Decrypting 1's home menu folder, which contains all the titles, saves, etc. then transferring it over to 2, encrypting it, and then moving it to 2's home menu folder. After that, inject title.db from 1 to 2 and hope it works.

In what way does System Transfer not work? Google "manual system transfer maxconsole" and you should find a thread. It would be way easier just to find a location with stable internet and do a proper transfer though.

I'll try that after my attempt, it doesn't work because the illegitimate tiles aren't transferred over.

That's the issue, most of the games I don't have CIA's to, especially the gba ones.
The manual system transfer guide I told you about may work but it's such a long and complicated process it would be easier to go and find the cias again. If any of the games are official ones you can try CIAngel or TIKdevil to install their tickets.

Then I would dump movable.sed and ticket.db from the source system, perform a system transfer, and flash the movable.sed and ticket.db onto the target system. This ensures everything will be transferred. I think movable.sed is transferred to the target system as-is so you might not need to flash that but better safe than sorry.
You can transfer these files along with part of sysdata/extdata without performing a system transfer, but it will only be a partial transfer, there are some things you can't transfer manually like NNID. That's why I suggest performing a system transfer before flashing those two files.

what are these tickets that everyone keep talking about? I really still don't know what they are and what they are used for or even where/how to get them?
Tickets are how the console knows you're allowed to play a game. If you install a game and somehow manage to not install the ticket it will not appear on the home menu and will instead appear in 3ds software with a cross on it. This is what happens if you take the SD card from one console and put it in another. The games are there but not allowed to be played. If you install the ticket they will then appear.

Cardboard (system transfer app) on the receiving 3DS downloads the tickets from Nintendo servers instead of transferring them over from the source console. Since the server won't sign tickets for games that you don't license to, you will have to manually reinstall them for whatever pirated/homebrew cias you have on your SD card before transfer

If I flash ticket.db from my previous n3ds to my new n3ds, I get a black screen -- that's it.

You got a good chance of buying a used one and asking the seller how often they used or even ask for a Pic of fw and telling them not to update

Speaking of PLaystation. I see Evilnat put out a beta for PS3 CFW 4.91.2 on the 22nd.

Don't really see the point in updating it tbh
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right, I thought about updating my PS3 CFW to 4.91, but why really, everything plays fine now. I guess for people that have already updated past 4.9 it would be helpful.

Thats true, personally I don't play it online at all, in fact, I deleted all wifi details on it once I installed CFW, so it won't connect and auto-update itself
