"If the Wii U has the most recent system update installed, it will be able to recognize a storage device of any size, but 2TB will be the maximum amount of storage capacity that can be used. Any extra capacity in the storage device beyond the 2TB will not be accessible via the Wii U."

I have a 3tb hard drive plugged in the Wii u with usby for power and cfg is just stuck
Not a vWii Modder (I'm a Wii.) Either you do not have a certain cIOS installed, or CFG Loader cannot support 3TB Drives. (3TB Hard Drive is a little over the top.) I would highly recommend using a 700GB, or 800GB. For Wii modding go with about 160GB - 500GB.

Depending on how many games, and software you use on your Wii you may want to consider going lower if you don't have a lot of games as well.

Edit:
Depending on what size it is, and what it supports you may have to format it to FAT32. You can also format it to others but FAT32 is the best format for wii hacking, idk about vWii

Depends on your Firm Ware. Max is 2TB but idk if the same applies to vWii (Wii U modded wii)

i have WD one to now i cant format some of the drive for wbfs and keep the rest how do i do it
Format the entire drive to FAT32 using this guide here (http://www.wiihacks.com/showthread.php?t=96770). Be careful when installing EaseUS Partition Master. It's a great free program but it tries to install programs you don't need so be sure to click no to those parts of the installation.

Also, because your drive is greater than 2TB you won't be able to format it with 32k clusters. So you will have to use 64k clusters. If it won't let you format the whole thing, let me know as there may be anothe work around to try.

Edit: Here is a link to someone who was having trouble formatting an 8TB drive and what he did to get it working. (https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1111#post-6448544) Some of his posts a few posts back are also interesting to read.

Yes. Even though most guides and posts you read say to format to FAT32 with 32k clusters, 64k clusters also work. My drive is 3TB with 64k clusters and I can run my Wii, GameCube, WiiWare and Virtual Console games through USB Loader GX without any issues.

@ca032769 I was wondering if you could help this guy out. I've been following your progress with your 8TB drive and it sounds like you figured it out. Would you be able to tell him what he could try to get his 3TB drive formated to FAT32? Maybe @element6 could help as well. Thank you.

@AxelHei - I'm using an original Wii with a WD 8TB USB3.0 My Book with USB Loader GX & Nintendont without any Wii or GC issues. One 8TB MBR FAT32 Partition 64K clusters.

Take a look at this and see if it helps: https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1111#post-6448544

Also try this thread that started me down the path of getting my 8TB setup: https://gbatemp.net/threads/3tb-4tb-5tb-or-6tb-drives-with-vwii-usb-loader-gx-nintendont.429374/
I fixed it
