Is there a reason why the micro sd management transfer speeds are so so so much faster than FTP transfers?

EDIT: Because some people can't read. I'm not asking for homebrew ftp to be as fast as direct copying to sd card via card reader. I'm asking if there's a way for FTP homebrew to be as fast as nintendo's microsd management app.

Lemme explain. When you transfer to msd, you are transferring directly to the sd card (more or less). When you are transferring over ftp, you have to send it over the Internet, which will have further to go, since the file is near on the 3ds, and will be dependant on your internet speed being fast.

I would assume not, as homebrew runs off the SD, while the SKD runs off NAND

No and no. You're not writing to the SD directly. Also, when the 3DS is connected to your WiFi, nothing is sent over the Internet.

What? The op is asking if you can have ftp transfers as fast as msd transfers. And if you want to transfer files to your pc/3ds, you're going to be writing some files to your 3ds/pc. If you want to write to the sd card, I hate to break it to you, but

It probably has something to do with stability optimisation and server types (iirc mSD management is SMB, while FTP clients are... FTP). And actually, recent FTP homebrews are as fast as mSD management now.

Nobody can due to the limitations of a b/g/n connection. Unfortunately, the 3DS only supports this. However, FTP has always seemed faster and more reliable to me than the mSD Management app. Plus the way it handles the Samba share limits the use of it to Windows, which is lame.

Why would you bother transferring over the internet? I doubt the 3DS works well as that kind of FTP server, it's more of just for transferring over your local network. As for transfer speeds I've experienced, I find the newer FTPd builds far faster than the microSD Manager which just works over SAMBA. Remember, b = bits and B = Bytes.

You're not transferring over the Internet when using an FTP app on your 3DS.

When you're loading a webpage, for example, it will be like: Computer ---> Router ---> Server ---> Router ---> Computer (let's keep things simple).
When you're transferring files to your 3DS over FTP, it will be like: Computer ---> Router ---> 3DS.
---> = files / data are transferred over the Internet
---> = files / data are transferred over your router (= Wi-Fi / Ethernet)

Yeah, you aren't going to get that speed through the 3DS's wireless hardware. The OP was talking about transferring over the network, either through microSD Manager or a fork of FTPd, so that information isn't that relevant.

I'm using ftpd2.2 (with winscp) and its slower than mSD management though.
