Hello guys, recently I have got a 3DS but it is a USA version, so I really want to get homebrew to unlock region, unfortunately it has been updated to 10.6 already, so I can't use browserhax.

Is there any other way than buying a copy of USA cartridge just for an entry point? or if there is a EU cartridge that can do the same trick? I heard about sky3ds but you can a new 3ds already with that price...

For extra info, I do have a 2DS that has access to homebrew, not sure if it will help.

DO NOT UPDATE. Follow this guide. Every single step. It may take a while, but when you're done, you will have everything you had originally, region-free capabilities, and many other features. Heck, if you want, you could probably do it to your 2DS too. I've already done it on a New 3DS XL and an Old 3DS, neither have bricked, nor even had the slightest amount of damage. If you are willing, I wish you good luck.

Geez all he wants is region free and you giving he that guide. Give him something simple like oothax or bowserhax (If it work 10.6 i'm unsure)

If you just want region free then import a us copy of zelda oot 3d. Then use your homebrewed 2ds and use oothax installer and when you get to choose firmware version do 10.6 USA and your done.

Even if you only want region free, I'd HIGHLY recommend going through the steps of setting up A9LH. It's so worth it. You'll get native region free. I have a US copy of Pokémon Y, previously I had to launch the Homebrew Launcher, then boot the game, and I wouldn't be able to access the home menu while playing. Setting up A9LH will let you boot the cart straight from the home menu, and a shitton of other gucci stuff.

Don't give people bad ideas. @3DNobleknight Follow the guide that kittensauce gave you. You will regret it later if you don't. And feel free to ask us for help if you're confused at any point along the way! :D

I'm not trying to give him any bad ideas. I'm just telling him that he can do oothax. I didn't say he shouldn't follow the guide. I just meant that there is an easier way.

To Kittensauce, I don't have trouble installing homebrew or getting emuNAND, the problem I am having is to get an entry point for my US console, which I am living in Europe, I am not sure it is a wise idea to buy a copy of US cartridge to do the trick. Was hoping if there is a magical way that I can use a EU cartridge version of oot and get the job done. I read some info about sky3ds it is region free, and you can probably put cubic ninja in for ninja hax, but I think the item is over-priced.

Thank you, xtheman166 for suggestion, I will see if I can import one with a lower price.

If anyone have other method that doesn't cost a lot, please let me know, will be very appreciated!

Sorry, you're going to have to get a US OOT. You can check on the eShop, but I'm pretty sure it was removed a while ago. You can click "Reply" at the bottom-right of a post to quote it btw. ;)

Another question, is there any way you can change your system from US to EU, by either transfer system or I don't know, hardmod?

Oh yes, sorry, I forgot that you don't have any entry points other than buying an imported game. As @GalladeGuy said, yes, you will need to buy an import. But do not fear, when you are finished, you'll be grateful you spent the money. When you're done, you can play the game for the gameplay itself too! A two in one deal. I'm not sure how you would switch the region, though (I think Luma3DS has a setting for that?), but I'm pretty sure if you do that, the eShop will unfortunately not work. Maybe someone could correct me if I'm wrong, though?
By the way, is your 3DS a New 3DS? If so, with Linux know-how and the right hardware, you can download the Super Smash Bros. demo (free!) and run SmashHax. While it may be free, it is quite difficult to get running, and should definitely not be used as a primary way to enter the Homebrew Launcher. If it is an Old 3DS, however, you are out of luck.

EDIT: Heh, well, what do you know, Plailect's guide has a section for region changing, too!

OP you can just buy a game (such as OoT) for the entrypoint from Amazon or something, downgrade, setup emunand/CFW/A9LH/whatever, then return the game. That's what I did for my JP N3DS.

BTW OoT was not removed from the US eShop. In fact, it just got re-released as a Nintendo Select title with a discount. That version works fine with ooT hax as well.

use that 2ds to install base hax he probs has oras

Even if he did have OR/AS, he would still have to have the US version, and I'm not sure if the bashaxx installer supports switching regions (i.e. EU to US).

He would have to have the physical cartridge to install the hax, as he would need to switch to his hacked 2DS.

Nothing wrong with doing a proper job, sooner or later you will need to update the system firmware, patching the entry points you mention.

Spend time doing something right and make your life easier in the long run.
