System Shock 2 Free on GoG EXPIRED

uya72S9.png

For those not aware, GoG.com started their Summer Sale yesterday, offering discounts on various DRM-free games. And today, GoG.com is offering classic sci-fi RPG game System Shock 2 for free...but there's a catch. In order to claim the game, you must install GoG's own digital distribution client GoG Galaxy in order to help "Stress Test the client." Once installed, simply find the "Claim Code" button on the Store page to get your free copy of System Shock 2.

Of course, this is a small price to pay for one of the great classics, and those PC gamers who prefer DRM free games will surely want GoG Galaxy to help keep track and purchase all those great DRM-free games offered by GoG.

That moment when the catch in a deal isn't really a catch.
GoGalaxy isn't perfect but I rather use it instead of the webbrowser to manage my acc.

It was free since yesterday.
A free game draws more people in, and there's no DRM which is awesome.

I used to purchase from them a lot, but then I got a new card, and it doesn't support international transactions, so I can't purchase anymore.

What a way to screw Linux users...
Fine, I'll get it from steam with my cold hard-earned Euros.
There is Wine for Linux and it works fine for this.. I'm surprised this is even remotely thought of as an issue when CDP aims to make their games work out of the box on all main platforms.

@k3rizz3k hit their support a message. So far I've yet to encounter an issue buying games from them even in areas not commonly working for Steam or GoG.

Great game, bought it both on Steam and GoG afterwards due to their support. For free, who can argue. There's also a bunch of games free for you if you buy something during the sale

Weren't there rumors recently of this game being remastered? Hmm... play old-looking game for free, or pay for slightly-less-old-looking game...

Huh. Guess this is no excuse to not to then, especially since GOG stuff is DRM-free. I'll have to try this out.
You will not regret it. If you can't get over the low poly models, get the mods (Rebirth, SHTUP etc.), they modernize the graphics significantly (I like it vanilla though). I recommend playing it in the dark with nobody around, preferably with surround sound or good headphones.

I figured out how to get the code, you go to the featured section of the store tab to claim it. However I'm having trouble redeeming the code given to me, theres this string of numbers followed by SUMMER_GIVEAWAY_SYSTEM_SHOCK_2 and everytime I enter the code wrong I have to solve this extremely annoying capcha.

This seems like more trouble than its worth, steam doesnt give you shit for redeeming codes.

I believe that the supposed Linux version uses Wine anyways.

Gotcha. Funny thing, tonight might be the best time to do that XD
As for the graphics, I was playing Perfect Dark 64 yesterday, I think I can handle it ;P
Might check out the mods anyways just in case.

Erm, you don't need to enter a code, you just click "Claim" and it's registered to your account.
