Hacking Looking for advice Plailect guide / Nand backup / restore

Ok Long story short here, I was helping someone with Plailects guide and he got through it ok for the most part but right near the end when he has to restore his REDnand onto his Sysnand, we notice that his emunand_original is corrupt (yes his bad for not checking filesize).

We proceeded with flashing the emunand_formatted instead, which is nearly identical, save for the formatting, but of course it has been formatted and I believe has a new NNID? It boots fine, he can install CIA from the FBI app, so all is essentially well.

Anyways the question really is - With him currently with an A9LH install, and access to his Sysnand_original.bin, what is the easiest way to get him back on the 'correct' nand / NNID?


I am thinking copy his sysnand_original to Rednand, update it via system update, inject the FBI app, back it up, then restore it onto Sysnand (keeping A9LH of course / using hourglass) Does this make sense or is it more complicated than that or do I have my thought process mixed up or what?

if that has the original nnid it should work? you can also just restore it and keep a9lh then update it directly on sysnand

I need to inject the FBi into h&s though. does it need to be on any particular firmware for me to do that?

With A9LH Decrypt9 can boot before the system and has instant arm9 access so it doesn't matter which FW

No. It doesn't matter. Just use the Decrypt9 a9lh.bin and dump h&s.app.

Other things you could try. Do you still have the backup of sysNAND.bin from Part 2, this should be an earlier backup of emuNAND_orginal.bin.

You could also tiny format the sysnand until it relinks with the correct Nintendo 3DS folder, but not sure how well of a method this is.

I will have to check with the guy tomorrow. He showed me what backups he took and I didnt see it. Im actually thinking the backup he has is after the format.. I will have to see. In any case I think I know what I need to do now. Thanks guys
