EDIT: I made a typo in the title, it's supposed to say "Is there any interest in raising a prizepool for developing IOSU exploit but I can't change it

I was wondering if people here would be interested in raising a prizepool for the person/team who successfully develop an IOSU exploit. Lets say we raised a couple of hundred bucks, that could be the motivation that the exploiters need to dedicate more time and energy towards development.

But it would only help and motivate if enough people took interest in actually donating some money and raising the pool to a sizable sum. Personally I'll be donating at least 15$, maybe 20-25 if I don't have too many unexpected expenses. So please vote honestly in the poll and reply with any ideas how to organize something like this.

Multiple problems here. The prize pool would need to be established in advanced, otherwise they'd release the exploit and then most people would probably just "forget" they pledged to support the pool. And who manages the prize pool? Are there 3rd party organizations that have escrow-like services for this type of thing? Finally, this person or persons probably wants to remain anonymous, so how can they prove that they're the one who developed the exploit and deserve the prize pool?

Of course it needs to be paid upfront and kept in Escrow, hopefully an helpful admin is willing to manage it and if people don't trust the admin they just don't donate to said admin. As for verifying who to pay out to, the developers could just PM the admin the files together with an Sha-1/md5 checksum first. That'll give the admin a timestamp which will be earlier than the eventual exploit post. Then the exploit person just has to publish the exploit with the same checksum and if the exploit is legit working the admin pays out.

If we raise a prizepool, are we still dirty entitled pirates?

The people who are calling us pirates will still call us pirates no matter what

No.
Homebrew and Stuff should be free to use for everyone.

I didn't mean you had to pay to get the exploit, IF YOU WANT you can chip in a few bucks towards a prizepool which will be paid to the dev who relased an exploit. But once it's out it will be 100% free. Think Kickstarter but the end product is free

Dude, I know what you mean :)
But still I won't donate for something like this.
Either we get free IOSU access or not. I don't really care because I'm already able to create and use own stuff for Wii U (Unity4WiiU).

I have no problem donating AFTER a working release. If I donate before, there's no guarantee of a release.

The only way to get any current IOSU release, is to placate the egos enough for it to get released, I don't think money will be the solution ...

Actually, other than being able to install apps in the NAND, or access USB, which I am not 100% convinced can't be achieved with kernel anyway, there is no need for IOSU really.

I'm not a dev, but if I could choose between 100-200$ and an ego boost or just an ego boost I'd take the couple hundred bucks and an ego boost. Just because you get paid it doesn't mean you'll get less cred for coming up with the exploit.

Yes, for the average person, but you don't understand the minds at work here ...

With all the shit devs get from the wiiU community, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a cash or nothing situation.

If not it's a sure fire way to tell the devs that we appreciate what they're doing even if we sound like ungrateful brats at times. And for the people who think we're only doing it for the piracy we show them that we're actually willing to spend money if we think it's worth it.

There shouldn't be a prize pool imo, because homebrew is all about the "community" regardless if we sound like ungrateful shits sometimes. @Datalogger is searching and RE'ing the IOSU daily trying to get an exploit to use @smealum s tools with. All I'm saying is this is an effort but, it wont matter anyway
