1. Undertale is made in yoyo gamemaker, yoyo gamemaker cant compile for 3ds.
2. Many people think undertale would work well on 3ds becasue you could use the stylus as a way to navigate the heart. Hate to break it to you, but one of the combat elements is the limited movement speed of the heart, could work with the c pad tough.

3~ish. We don't know much about Toby Fox, if its one person or several, but its an indie studio so there aren't many people working on it, so it would be a waste of time.

Sorry to break it to you, but the chanse of undertale comming to 3ds is like 1/10000

Someone already ported Undertale to 3DS long before this post.

Sorry to break that to you.
the porrt is a sprite upon a sprite, ive seen it

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

As far as I know @Cellenseres is going to make a remake based on Unity4N3DS and CTR_SDK-11_4_0 since he has the Gamemaker-Version Source code in hands, it wouldn't be a big problem..

i cant find anny information regarding the yoyo gamemaker source code, so i have to call bullshit

Can you explain what unity4n3ds is. I tried searching it but got nothing.
It's almost the same like Unity4WiiU which I'm able to access but for N3DS instead of WiiU

Real reasons you will not see a professional port of Undertale for the 3DS:
  • Nobody is interested to make a real effort on this.
  • The lack of interest is due to the notion of potential poor returns.
  • This notion is based on market studies.
  • And this is all that matters.

1. "Can't compile" -oh dear. You ever heard of porting, son?
2. You contradict yourself, but it could still be adapted on an old 3ds. A port doesn't have to be 100% accurate to be entertaining.
3. Porting can be delegated to another studio -- there are several studios that specialize in that kind of stuff.. A contract is negotiated and the source is handed over. Happens all the time.

The biggest hurdles are #3, namely is the 3ds market big enough to handle the expense of porting (I think it is, but indies don't always chase dollars).
The issue with a homebrew port is that it's difficult (but not impossible) to port a game without source code. No cash incentive can kill a months long hb project if its just for epeen points. Takes a lot of skill and time. There's also the risk of a DMCA before its finished, but with indies, its not likely to happen.

Due to the game's stellar sales, it's totally ridiculous to assume that nobody's interested in this project.
Facts talk.
Where is the port? Or marketing for the port? Or anything that makes a potential buyer think of saving some coins to buy the port?
This can only mean that after a cost/benefit analysis, they decided not to go on with the port. (that is called lack of interest in my planet)

Keep in mind that these quotes were the creator expressing interest in a port less than four months ago. Yeah, nothing's been announced yet, but that doesn't mean it's not coming.

Also, if you're going to try to pull the cost/benifit thing, keep in mind that the game has 1.5 MILLION owners and was made with a budget of $51,000. If that's not a success, I don't know what is.

I would actually play the game on 3DS, so count me as one of the potential buyers.
Anyway, even if the original was a success, probably the costs of porting it and the expected returns from 3DS don't make the cut.
It is quite probably the port will cost way more than the original budget, considering it will be made by professionals that ask for real money.
And probably the expected amount of buyers on 3DS is not so big.
I hope it gets released nevertheless.

Fair 'nuff. I personally know quite a few people who don't game on PC, love Earthbound, and would love for a chance to play Undertale on console, although that doesn't exactly extrapolate well.

I'm just really happy that it was a success in the first place.
