First of all, I have two DSI's. One being a DSI XL v1.4.5e and the other being a normal DSI v1.4.5u.

I have a R4i card, here is a picture to make sure were all on the right card:

Basically when I start my R4i up I get this error:

And I'm using the latest update from my provider being:

All help and any help is appreciated.

Thought something like that might happen.

I'm fine with hardware hacking, just point me in the right direction.

But I might find it too risky, therefore could you share a R4 card which would work with my setup?

Hate to break it to you but your DSi FW just isn't compatible with your card.

Only way to make it compatible is to downgrade the whitelist via hardware hacking.

Sorry forgot to make my message a reply leading to you possibly not getting notified that I replied.

It's not worth the trouble over a 4 quid flashcard imho.
If you're looking for DSi homebrew then it would be worth the trouble.
It involves soldering, dumping your CID with an exploit game n what not.

I'd go with what nxwing said.

Solly because I'm a cheap skate and I have no interest in paying retail price.
This R4i card would work correct?
And it would work fine with a DSI and normal DS games?

Is this possible with DSi firmware 1.4.5? I found this guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/dsi-downgrading-the-complete-guide.393682/ but all the exploits apparently work only if the system firmware is 1.4.1 or bellow. I would gladly attempt to downgrade my dsi if possible.. so if there really is a way of doing it could you at least point ME in the right direction?

Well I was gonna get it off that site, except I really don't want to pay 20$ worth of shipping.
Is there any UK based retailers of this device do you know of whilst supporting the providers?

No clue.
Never done anything with shitty R4 cards.
20 quids of shipping... I've ordered an AK2i for me bf recently from that site n I didn't had to pay that amount of shipping...

It works yep.
I've done mine with it as well.
I've send me DSi to @StandardBus for the NAND mod.

R4i-SDHC 3DS RTS from r4i-sdhc.com

Good quality, works flawlessly on any DS/3DS, with any firmware.

I'm not disagreeing with you that is doesn't work however they've stopped production therefore there is going to be less support in the future.
I was thinking of just getting the gold version instead, do you have any opinions.

I don't know.... their site looks like a ripoff of the R4i-SDHC.com. It might be a rebrand of the same card, or it might be a bad quality card. No idea.

I heard this one is good.

Also, DO NOT buy from here.

Those cards have a timebomb to make the card useless (unless you change the year). Afaik, the 2016 card lasts till 2018.

EDIT: One more thing. Get the R4i-SDHC 3DS RTS. Even if they stopped supporting it, you won't need any other cart. Nintendo pretty much gave up blocking NDS flashcarts.

I can confirm that r4ids.cn cards are quite good, not the best (Supercard DS1/2 are the best)
r4ids.cn DS cards are compatible with the wood firmware for acekard2i if I remember correctly.

More foxes are always welcome :) . I'm not terribly familiar with the r4i cards. I got a DSTWO a few years ago and love it. I guess it really all comes down to preference and what you'll be doing with the card, but I for one enjoy all the bells and whistles it has to offer. Not to mention it works with DSi and 3DS systems with a quick and minor firmware update.

The DSTWO is great, but it drains a lot of power even when not in use. And it gets quite hot. And it is more expensive x.x

I won't deny any of that, those things happen to me with my 3DS. I just remove the card when not in use. As for the price point, it's one of those things where you really do get what you pay for.

Yep. I'd really like to have one for GBA emulation on my 2DS, but oh well, I have a DSlite, GBA, GBA SP, etc, with an EZ-Flash IV for my GBA needs.
