well, the problem with a hardmod, is you also need a nand backup for that. A corrupt nand backup won't work on a hardmod either.
You might be stuck unless you find another backup.

I was going to suggest forcing the restore before spending time doing a hardmod, since it could just be the messing around you've done with dev that is causing the mismatch error, but seems you're taking that route already

How did you format? On a PC or through system settings? via system settings, only the stuff in /Nintendo 3ds/ gets deleted. Had you not tried adding additional stuff to the card first, you could have used recovery software.

There were many things that could have been attempted, but now they can't because you were impatient, all while not understanding what you were doing. Lesson learned, I hope. But if you were ever able to restore with any of the backups that you have, you still can recover with a hard mod. I've said it many times: There is only 1 way to brick a 3DS (with software) that is unrecoverable with a hard mod, and the only way to do it is on purpose.

What I recommend is buying a beat to hell 3ds on ebay for super cheap maybe for like $30-40 and
proceed to restore with your bricked one(use the bricked 3ds screens and housing and stuff) and maybe
you could salvage yourself something.

You could have used decrypt9 to generate xorpads then you may have been able to rebuild a new nand, now decrypt9 is gone you are probably done for

If you wish to, try the file recovery program recuva. I used it to restore a deleted nand file once. It will tell you if your file is in good health or not. What do you have to lose by trying it?
