And are any emulators available?

Because, you know... it would be nice to see some N64 and PSX emulators running on WiiU

Even if it just loads games from the SD card, the game files from these systems arent exactly huge...

I'm sure it will be able to, just that none have been ported over.
Retroarch seems like a safe bet eventually.

QuarkTheAwesome and I have each made an NES emulator, but neither of us has updated it to work with the Homebrew Launcher. There is also a GB Emulator, but I don't know if it has been updated for the HBL yet. None of the emulators that have been made so far have audio though. Maybe in the future there will be some made.

They would all have to be ported to use the new GX2 graphics, and the audio would have to be updated as well.

So is possible, but just not likely, noticed most of those emulators stop being supported by updates for wii, so i guess the teams are done with that project, unless they get interested again.

Right now pretty much Nintendo systems are all able to be injected. We have tools for DS injection, Snes/Nes Injection, GBA Injection and N64 Injection. Dunno about you but thats enough systems for me for now. Maybe one day a PSX emulator would be cool but I'm in no rush.

To me, the only thing worth having on Wii U hacks as far as older systems go is exclusive N64 games like Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooie, and Mega Man Legends. Everything else can be handled by vWii. And it's easy to boot into vWii by holding B on the wiimote. Though it would suck to have to care about the battery usage of yet another wireless controller that takes real batteries.

I'd never load up the Wii U kexploit just to play NES games though, would totally use vWii for that.
If RetroArch were to be ported over, it's PSX and N64 cores would be a huge reason to use it in my opinion.

Owning a New 3DS, I can literally play NES, SNES, GBA, GBC, and Sega Genesis games perfectly, and on a handheld which is better for me. So there's not much need for emulators on my Wii U.

Touche, never thought of it that way. Now that I think about it, those SNES, NES, GbA, DS etc injects are effective because of the use of the gamepad alone, which means portability. I just hate having them cluttered in my list of Wii U games in Loadiine. I personally name all my Virtual Console games with z, example: zSuper Mario 64. This way, they always appear at the end of the list all together. Or you can name it: z(N64) Super Mario 64, then all your N64 games will be together, AND at the end of the list.

But yeah you made a good point, that gamepad would be awesome to play on for these games. For me personally though, anything under the N64 can easily be played on my 3DS.

What is chip-8? Educate me good sir,

CHIP-8 is an interpreted programming language, developed by Joseph Weisbecker. It was initially used on the COSMAC VIP and Telmac 1800 8-bit microcomputers in the mid-1970s. CHIP-8 programs are run on a CHIP-8 virtual machine. It was made to allow video games to be more easily programmed for said computers.

Roughly twenty years after CHIP-8 was introduced, derived interpreters appeared for some models of graphing calculators (from the late 1980s onward, these handheld devices in many ways have more computing power than most mid-1970s microcomputers for hobbyists).

I dont have any of the games needed to hack vWii

They would cost more than i should spend right now (really) if i were to buy em in my country right now.

I dont even know if they are available anymore, to be fair.

Also the portability that the gamepad could give me if i had emulators in the WiiU Homebrew Launcher, as you said below, would be awsome

Oh, I almost forgot, there is a CHIP-8 emulator made for the Wii U as well. I can't recall if it is HBL compatible though.
Eeep! Really? Sounds great, I was contemplating getting a Pocket CHIP for the funsies. Gonna have to dig around, thanks!
