I have no clue what the DLC was supposed to add tbh xd. I think all of them except the Japanese ones in m01 are just some additional lines they added for the English version.

I haven't done it myself since my screen is fairly close and I can read the text fine, but:
1. Download the CPK editor from OP
2. Start CriPackedFileMaker.exe
3. There should be a colorful button to the right of the folder button at the top right. Click on it.
4. Direct it to XenobladeFolder\content\menu.cpk and hit OK.
5. Now press the button that's to the right of the previous button you clicked, and create a new folder somewhere and extract the files into that folder.
6. Open the folder and go to the font\us directory and delete eurasia.fnt and normal.fnt.
7. Now, go up one folder (so you're in the \font\ folder) and copy the eurasia.fnt and paste it into the font\us directory. Rename this file to normal.fnt and then paste eurasia.fnt again.
8. Now go back to CriPackedFileMaker.exe, and click on the folder button this time.
9. Open the folder you created in step 5.
10. At the bottom right corner there should be a Build CPK file button. Click on it, select where you want to save it, click OK to pack your .cpk file.
11. Inside XenobladeFolder\content\, make a copy of menu.cpk and save it somewhere safe, in case something goes wrong.
12. Replace menu.cpk with your new .cpk file. Rename it to menu.cpk if you need to.

I did some more poking around and testing. Inside ev.cpk there is a folder called scn. In here there're a bunch of .evpa files, and it seems these contain the lip sync information I think. At least the timing of their mouths differ if I have them replaced or not. The problem is that the timing is off though, so the voice will start playing before the mouth begins moving, and the voice ends before the mouth stops moving, in all cases I saw. The more important cutscenes (the ones with their own audio file within the stm folder of ev.cpk) seem to have correct lip syncing though. Not sure how that works, but it does.

The other problem with just replacing the .evpa files is that they seem to also contain some other data. For example, xs00100100.evpa is named after the same voice lines that occur during the battle before you get inside NLA for the first time. When this file is replaced, the grexes that attack you will not howl, and instead there will just be silence. If you look at the file size, you can see that it's significantly bigger than a lot of the other .evpa files, and I suspect the audio file for the monsters' howl is stored inside. Similarly, xs01010100.evpa is the president's speech, and when this file is replaced, the presidential video will not show up inside the game, there will be no elevator sound, and after the first 6 or so lines, the president will be silent. As for why the game can't seem to load these files, I dunno... Maybe they've been edited and renamed inside the .evpa, so when you replace them with the Japanese version, the game can't load them properly, or something.

Also, does anyone know what the files in snd.cpk do?

Well, because the patcher in OP didn't seem to work properly for me and some other people, I decided to write my own (+ I get some practice with coding so that's nice).

If anyone could test it, that would be awesome. I think I've made sure everything works, but who knows when stuff breaks, so yeah. (So make a backup of your game in case :P)

Download link (v1.1)
2024-01-06: Removed the music thing. Also I think the old link is dead anyway: https://gbatemp.net/threads/xenoblade-chronicle-x-undub.405092/page-27#post-10326953

Using the patch shouuuld be pretty self explanatory I think.

The patcher lets you pick between undubbing, uncensoring and font size patching (or everything at the same time), as well as the option to delete any English line that isn't replaceable. It should also do a md5 check on all the .cpk's that get used during the patching, and I kinda just assume the EU and US versions are identical. Tell me if they're not. You can continue the patch anyway even if it detects different md5 values. It should also make sure you're actually in a folder that's patchable and stuff like that.

Backups of all modified files will be saved in a Backup folder where the patch resides. The patch also unpacks chr_pc.cpk, which is a pretty huge file. This means that you'll need quite a bit of free space for the patch to work with.

For the undub and uncensoring patches, you'll need the Japanese game as well, while you'll only need the English game for the font size patch.

What the patch does:
Undub:
-----------------------
- Replaces every file tagged _us in \movie folder with its Japanese counterpart.
- Replaces every file in \stream folder with its Japanese counterpart. (Includes _f and _m tagged files)
- Adds all the missing voice choices from the Japanese game. (Not the menu in-game, just the files.)
- Replaces every file in ev.cpk\stm\us with its Japanese counterpart.
- Replaces every file in snd.cpk\se\voice with its Japanese counterpart.

Remove Leftover English:
-----------------------
- Deletes every file that has a filename that does not match a file in the Japanese game. (Does not include tagged files such as _us or _f and _m)

Uncensor:
-----------------------
- Replaces every file in chr_pc.cpk tagged _us with its Japanese counterpart.

Font Size:
-----------------------
- Replaces eurasia.fnt and normal.fnt in menu.cpk\font\us with eurasia.fnt from menu.cpk\font

Changelog:
v1.1
-----------------------
- Improve some logic on folder validation. Should now only require the relevant files to be patched depending on which checkboxes are selected.
- Fixing a stupid overlap in the GUI that I didn't notice.

Nice, thank you very much. I kinda don't have the time to look at why it's broken, and it's incredibly broken, so I'm happy someone else made a new one.

- Replaces every file in chr_pc.cpk tagged _us with its Japanese counterpart.

I made a list a bit ago which has the exact files in chr_pc.cpk that were changed. I used the program Checksum Checker to check them all.

http://pastebin.com/edPWbXiT

This is how the program looks:

XQXZIGX.png

The funny thing is, my list is only 2 less than yours. So I did quick research. There's 242 files with "_us" in in the filename, but only 240 are different. So there's 2 files that have "_us" that weren't changed.

But what I find funny is how all the changed gear was tagged "_us" in the original version. So, I have a theory:

When Xenoblade X was developed in Japan, they tagged the gear that was gonna be changed/censored in advance with "_us" for Treehouse. However, Treehouse missed 2 files, so I'm betting the two "_us" files that weren't changed are those chest bandage wrap things, since it's unchanged for the female.

This could expand to the other files like a flag saying "Hey you wanna change this" like for dubbing or stuff.

Or I could be drunk and thinking too much about it.

works great but it was really picky in terms of the naming of the content folder. mine was named AXJ5 or something similar to that and did not work until i renamed it to content.

Huh, are you sure? I can't remember adding anything that would require you to name the folder "content" in particular, only that the folder you point it to contains \movie, \stream, chr_pc.cpk, ev.cpk, snd.cpk and menu.cpk (and speaking of that, I should probably make it work depending on which patches you choose, since you don't exactly need the movie or stream folders if you're just uncensoring. I'll get to it after I get some sleep).

AXJ5 is the content folder from the JPN game dump my guess is its probably named that way from dumping

@CXu Thank you so much for your hard work, getting this game Undub was a wish come true for me as an Undub freak, the uncensorship was a bonus.

Well, even if I rename the \content folder to \AX5J, it still worked fine.
I've updated the patcher though, so now you should be able to run the uncensoring patch even if you only have the Japanese chr_pc.cpk in your source folder and the English one in the destination folder, etc.

You're welcome! The only thing I've really done is automating the process, most of the groundwork already got done by some other amazing people. :D

Dude thanks so much. OP's patcher just wasn't working for me and there wasn't really much of a guide either, so after figuring out what to do, only for it to fail anyway was disappointing. Yours is easy to understand even if you don't know what you're doing and worked perfect as well!

I'm gonna say those are the Infinite chest/legs of the postgame craftable armor as the three previous versions are censored but not the golden one.

Yes, that should be possible. Go into stream\bgm\ and you can replace any .adx file with your own. You'll have to locate which tracks you want to replace yourself though, and also a way to convert your files to .adx. I'm sure you can find something with google.

It's possible to swap music themes? Are they individual files or are packed?
Indeed! I use cafiine to check what is the name of the loaded music. You can convert files to adx with PES Sound File Converter 1.8
Yep, but there is just one problem: if the original music = 2m30s,
the injected music will also take 2m30s (i think it's hardcoded into the... code, to loop every x seconds)

adx files do only a full loop right? I remember when doing custom brstm files you could choose the loop point (if it was at 14360? going off memory lol). That was fun.

Did custom music for One Piece Unlimited Adventure/Cruise for a bit haha.
