Hacking About to Make the A9l jump, few questions :)

I didn't want to create a new thread but couldn't find after searching here and reddit.

I currently have a N3DS with gateway and EmuNAND all setup nicely, i have generated my own OTP using the guide from the FAQ but still sticking with EMuNAND for now...

So my questions for i jump:

1. Am i able to install A9L and configure it to auto boot into EmuNAND (thus allowing me to use gateways ROM selector)
2. If i cannot do this, i have seen this post and they appear to have a CFW (luma3ds i think) and support the gateway menu?

Appreciate any guidance

Don't use emuNAND. And they're working on a way to boot gateway from A9LH

Did you miss the whole part where he already has emunand and probably many games already installed?... I myself would rather keep emunand and all the content installed than re-install everything all over again...

but A9LH doesn't overwrite..... it literally restores the original emuNAND backup

Just read this thread, all the information is in it to be able to use A9LH to boot directly into GW, or set a button to then boot into CFW on power on.

I have done this myself and it seems to work well so far.

You're just one of few people. Just buy a good store quality sd.

Why would he have to reinstall the games...? Just swap NANDs and use sysNAND.

The NAND dump was most likely user error. Never has decrypt9 failed for me once in making a NAND backup. And it's your fault for not checking the validity of the NAND backup before downgrading.

That or you just screwed around too much. I have had no problem with SDs ever. In the 23 times I have done the process that is.

I didn't manage to do it, and that was a different (a9lhacked) 3ds
the 3ds thats stuck on 4.5 is my little brothers 3ds (he's 6 and likes to cry alot so I haven't told him about the situation yet)

I would if I was at home, not currently. I just did this:

Later when I am home if you don't have it I can post the payloads I used. I have it so my units boot GW by default and if A is held down it boots into CFW.

Actually I was able to grab a copy of the files I used in the above link.

With this you should have enough to do what I did if you follow what I said in that link

Just make sure to put whichever payload_stage1.bin you prefer (start or A or B) into a9hl folder before updating a9hl.
