What was the worst experience you had while buying gaming stuff? (Consoles, games etc.)
Mine was when some guy wanted to sell me a Gameboy Color that someone drew on with a black felt pen.

He wanted 40 euro(!) for it, I only asked him because maybe it was cheap and I could use it for spare parts, but his only reason was because it was "antique" and because nobody plays it anymore and that's why it's so rare. What the hell?

Some clerk saw me playing a copy of Pokemln Sapphire on my GBA SP. She asked if I was interested in getting more Gen III games. She showed me a bunch of bootlegs including Shiny Gold, Quartz and Marble.

Never buy bootlegs on cartridges. Never. I accidently bought a Pokémon Emerald bootleg and it died like 2 days after that.

Those weren't just ordinary bootlegs either, they were ROM hacks. What's worse is that the price is twice the normal price of a copy of a GBA game back then. Her reason was that they were rare and very few copies were made.

I went to Walmart to pick up some Wii shop points. I waited 15 minutes in the electronics for someone to help me (I called the store when no one was there) an elderly, obese lady finally hobbles up, walks right past me, and starts helping another customer. My dad (who was waiting for me in the car, and late for something else) comes in and asks me what's taking so long, I tell him the situation and he confronts the lady. She essentially cusses him out and keeps on with helping the other person.

She finally finishes and rings us up. Looking back, I wish I had of walked out, not buying anything.

The wii shop card had to be activated, and (at the time) it could only be activated/checked out in electronics.
Wow really good customer service xD

Another funny things was when Zelda Majoras Mask 3d came out, I wanted to buy the limited edition on Day One, but it was 60 Euro, and there is some useless law that Teenagers under 16 can't buy things that cost more then 59,99 and it was 60,00. And the Woman working there said I couldn't buy it because it would be illegal because of the law. Because of 1 cent. ONE DAMN CENT! I had to go home, ask my mum to go to the shop with me and then I could purchase the game. WHY

That's a bizarre law! Wait, teenagers can't spend more than 60 because...of what? Why make a law that prevents minors from spending their own money?

My story is that there is a "dollar" store in Chinatown that resold hacked GBA roms (mostly Pokemon - I saw the infamous translated "Telefang" game as Pokemon Crystal, and the Pokemon Orange Islands one (the spanish word for Orange). The owner wanted absurd amounts of money for the games too - $10 for each. Upon haggling, she said "Here, there are real games in there too!" I looked, and yes, there were roms of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. But the games were too light (no battery save/battery pack), AND they didn't have the right coloured plastic. I just got out of there before I said something rude to her.

Second story - there's a flea market in my city that has a big video game booth. The owners are Chinese, and they took in used games and also did modding on systems (modchips/soldering irons). I usually bought SNES and 3DS games, but every single time I would drop by, the owners would recommend the most "shovel ware" games ever. "Hey, I have Neopets for the DS!" Seriously, dude, have you seen me buy anything that was remotely girly from you? And here you wonder why some girls don't admit to playing video games - it's because of assholes like you.

There was one on ebay. I bought a "professionally cleaned" SNES cartridge from a seller (the seller was a big one with thousands of good feedback scores), and when it finally arrived, the game would not work with my system. So I get pissed off, and finally opened the game to take a look at it. The contacts were smeared in greasy looking stuff, and I took the time to completely wipe it down with alcohol and a white eraser. What really pissed me off when I left negative feedback to that seller, he responded horribly. "I used professional cleaning solution, you ignorant ****." Yeah, if it didn't work in my system and then I had to clean it manually...your professional cleaning solution is awful. What did you use, OIL?

Its called "Taschengeld Regel" in German which basicly keeps you from spending too much money on certain things. When I wanted to buy my Wii U i couldn't buy it alone as well because it was 300 Euro. It happened to me when I wanted to buy Xenoblade X and Mario Maker as well, it was a couple of days after Christmas, and I wanted to spend some of my Money, I was in the waiting line for 80 Min.(!!) And the only thing I heard from the Woman working there was "Sorry you can't buy that because you're a minor and you can only buy things under 60 Euro" It was 130 Euro (Mario Maker, Xenoblade X and some Wii U pens) That makes no sense! Why is there an Age Rating (USK, Pegi etc.) if you can't buy things over 60 euro? I can understand if she said I couldn't buy a game that had a 16+ age rating, but Xenoblade has a 12+ age rating. I can't buy things over 60 Euro, but I have to pay full prices at the Cinema, Bus etc. Yeah that makes so much sense. If you want me to pay the prices of an adult, then give me the rights of an adult. I don't really think i'll change in the 2 years till i'll be 18.
I really don't know why the law was made, maybe they think that minors spend too much of thier own money? I worked for that damn money myself, why shouldn't I be able to buy something that I normally have the right to buy?

Ha, politicians. If you wanted to ban video games OR potential scammers/scams, you'd make it harder for people to use credit card transactions to pay for things, OR just outright say that "minors under 16 can't buy video games"...not do this.

My country has a lot of weird laws and a bunch of religious nuts, but at least they have the sense not to do things like this. (And I've seen 14 year olds spend more money on games that I ever HAD at that age. Last time I went to ebgames, this 14 year old had the money to buy a PS4!

Well I don't get that much money, I'm usually only able to buy such things on my birthday or Christmas. I only get 20 Euro (Believe me it's not much) per Month from my Mum. Im done with school on the 24th of June and I hope I can start to work after that so I can get some Money.
