If you guys knew how to block IP addresses from your router, which can be set up through Parental Controls, then you can go online while still being able to not download any updates for the system.

Yes you are right, but easier methods are always better ( since some routers can be a pain... like mine )

Wow so Tubehax DNS not only blocks updates while it's enabled and active, but it also blocks updates when it's down. That's something interesting, I guess it NEVER fails to protect. Some users say it isn't 100% reliable, I feel like it is.

Not entirely 100%, you must trust Mtheall to not mess up his configuration which might screw everything to hell.

Does blocking in the router block eshop and updates for the 3DS too?
I don't need 3DS to be blocked, as a matter of fact I want it not to be. I'd like to not have to be dependent on tubehax (mainly so I can play splatoon while tubehax is down), but I don't want to block it for both.

If your secondary DNS is 0.0.0.0 it shouldn't connect anyway, even if the primary fails

Yes, that is true. You do get full protection that way atleast.

That's why i have tubehax as primary and the dev one as secondary.
