Hacking I created my emuNand and have a question.

Can I just upgrade my emuNand to 11.0 and use CIA files on it?
Also is there a way to boot emuNand when the 3DS starts up instead of sysNand?
I use Luma to boot into my emuNand.

I am also going to need a bigger SD card since mine is only 4GB. Can I just copy the files in my current one to the newer one and still be good after I finish installing A9LH?

Yes, you can upgrade emuNAND to 11.0. Make sure you do so from the System Settings while in emuNAND.
Yes, you can boot emuNAND when you start your 3DS. You can do so using menuhax (easier) or A9LH (better but harder).

I was trying to do the A9LH but every time I try to downgrade my emuNAND to 2.1 my emuNAND bricks. I tried downgrading from 9.2, 10.7 and 11.0.

Did you use the NTR firmware.bin from part 5, by putting it in the luma folder, when trying to downgrade 11.0? I did this and downgraded emunand 11.0 to 2.1 just fine.

A9LH's pros are that it's 100% bootrate as opposed to menuhax. A9LH also allows you to have a CFW sysnand, so no need for emunand. A9LH boots before sysnand, so if you do brick your sysnand, as long as you have a working sysnand backup, you can restore it using using Decrypt9.

I did try downgrading from 11.0 with the firmware.bin in the luma folder as well. When I try to boot into emuNAND after that its just a black screen even though it said the downgrade was successful.

That's not going to work... after a successful downgrade from 11.0 to 2.1 you move on to the next step... which tells you that no current CFW can boot a 2.1.0 RedNAD//EmuNAND. As such you move on to the next steps to use OTPHelper's "One Click Setup" to flash 2.1 onto your sysnand.

Pros of A9LH:

• Much faster bootup
• More reliable bootup (100% bootrate with A9LH vs. 80-90% with menuhax)
• Can use updated sysNAND instead of emuNAND (only useful if you want to save SD space)
• Boots before everything else, giving you some brick-protection. For example, if you completely mess up your sysNAND (without touching A9LH), you can restore a sysNAND backup without needing a hardmod.

Cons of A9LH

• Long setup process
• Minor potential to brick your 3DS during the setup process
• Permanent modification to your 3DS that can only be undone by restoring an old sysNAND backup
• Requires an SD with the proper files on it in order to be able to boot the 3DS at all

Once you have A9LH setup, yes. You can just copy the contents of your old SD Card onto a new one, as long as they're formatted to fat32.

If you've already created an emuNAND, you will need to use emuNAND Tool to transfer your emuNAND to the new SD card. emuNAND is stored on a hidden partition of your SD card.

This is only true, if she decides to keep her emunand, which the guide makes her remove. She shouldn't have any need for emunand with A9LH, unless she decides to keep it for whatever reason.

As long as the SD Card is formatted to fat32, then that's all you need to do. Following the guide completely will remove your emunand as there is really no need for it on an A9LH setup, unless you decide to keep it for whatever reason.

I'm sorry if this comes off as rude, but I would honestly recommend against trying to install a9lh, because you already had trouble reading the (very straightforward and noob-friendly) guide that tells you the emunand will not work after downgrading to 2.1
Who's to say you're not gonna end up making that same mistake of not reading the guide and then screwing up and perhaps bricking your 3DS, potentially for good? Wouldn't be very good.

The installation process is relatively safe and straightforward, as long as you can actually read and follow it.
If you can do that, then go ahead. But if you're not going to be able to actually read the guide, it would probably be preferable for you to stay with menuhax.

You know where the guide is. If you do decide to do it, always read every step and do exactly as it says, and don't take any shortcuts. If you can do that then you're golden.

First, it's A9LH, which is short for ARM9Loader.
Second, while emuNAND is not needed with A9LH, and it's a perfectly good choice to use an updated sysNAND as one's primary NAND, some people still prefer to use emuNAND+A9LH for various good reasons. These reasons include but aren't limited to:

• Fewer reads/writes on the internal storage, prolonging the life of the 3DS itself vs. the life of an expendable SD card
• Better and easier control of your NANDs, particularly if one switchs between more than one. Personally, I don't like overwriting my sysNAND each time I mess with my primary NAND.
• The peace of mind that any changes or updates one makes are confined to the emuNAND on the SD card. Even though A9LH, one's brick-protection, shouldn't be touched with a system update if using Luma3DS, confining what one does to an SD card is an extra layer of protection and peace of mind.
• The only real benefit of using an updated sysNAND+A9LH is extra space on the SD card, which is likely minimal when compared to a decently sized SD card.

Third, I thought it important to note that transferring the visible contents from one SD to the other will not transfer the emuNAND, regardless of whether or not the OP will be using emuNAND.

First, it's A9LH, which is short for ARM9Loader.

First, I'm dyslexic. That's what I meant.
Second, I said there's no "need" for emuNAND anymore. I didn't ever say there are no benefits of using emuNAND rather than sysNAND. With A9LH, everything that used to require an emuNAND can now be done on the sysNAND.
Third, if OP doesn't use an emuNAND, then it won't matter that his emuNAND doesn't transfer over.
