So yesterday, I went on a Twitter tirade about all these patches that I'm finding in the Nintendo DS Virtual Console RPX files. There's actually quite a bit!

- ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat (Japan)
- Animal Crossing: Wild World (Oidyo Dobutsu no Mori) (Japan, NA, KR)
- Picross 3D (Japan, NA, EUR)
- Wagamama Fashion: Girls Mode (Japan)
- ...and this nice little gem

This list is probably far from incomplete, I'll have to find vanilla copies of all the NDS VC games to get as much of an exhaustive list as I can, but this is a very nice start. Do you guys think these may be released down the line?

marketing vs engineering here: it's super likely that the patches you're finding are hacks to fix compatibility that may affect many games. they would likely be named after the game they were first discovered in. what's being tested internally to ensure compatibility isn't necessarily what's going to hit the market.

I don't get why Nintendo would make patches for them, testing I assume? Goldeneye 007 is owned by Activision so I doubt that'll be released.

Nintendo just probably showing love for the gems on their older systems.

If I was a Nintendo developer doing VC, I would have a private build that could play all my FAVES regardless of licensing as it would be internal only.

Man we could do with GE/PD on Wii U!

In the mean time, I'll be waiting for either easier N64 injection (and modification) or RetroArch Wii U, which is being worked on :P

Is there a link to a progress thread? I keep scanning Gcforever and such like but haven't found much....

I don't know, I've been focusing primarily on Snes and RPX/ELF injections and modding. The only hint I saw was on the Wii Homebrew Thread (that one that's 800 pages).

Why GC-Forever?

That place is a hellhole.

It's a vague hope that Emukidid will come out the shadows for wii64u or a not64u port :-/
LOL.
Nice joke.

Emukidid's pretty much is done with it, the only one who has been doing something is Extrems.
If they don't even care to finish the Wii port, I highly doubt they would even bother to make a Wii U port. xD

Best bet here would be to bet on RetroArch.

I honestly don't know why, but I always scan Gcforever, goldeneyevault, logic-sunrise and max-console.... I never post there though...

You never know mate, people come back and find new inspiration for old projects.

Stranger things have happened!

I'll wait for RetroArch Wii U, not sure how long it'll be though XD

I'll believe it when I see it , but Emukidid is pretty much done with it.

Really, our best option right now is N64 VC.

There is no way the guys at Douches-Forever will do something about the dormant emulator.
Hopefully Extrems makes something, but the main guys... highly doubt it.

As for RAU, I think I remember that some of the guys involved said that there is no proper N64 emulator for PPC, which could make things difficult in order to create one for RA. All other emus would be a nice addition.
I just hope that if we get RAU, we get a nice GUI like the PS3. xD
I hate the Wii's RA minimalistic GUI.

@the_randomizer do you think APS patched N64 roms could run on Wii u with sharper textures/less fuzzy filters?

They run on real hardware now over on the ED64 forums.

I have a bunch of roms that are patched and look way better!

Check it out man.

Edit sorry if this is derailing, it's VC, but not NDS....

There's a technical reason for that GUI, the Wii simply doesn't have a lot or RAM to spare, they have no choice but to use that GUI, so not much can be done about it, hopefully with the Wii U, that will no longer be an issue.
But as of now, I hope with N64, we can mod those games and actually get more to work, also, I noticed a weird issue with Rare games, they seem to use linear audio interpolation and sound kinda raspy/compressed,
DK64, Banjo Kazooie, like, the audio emulation is off on them, if that makes sense. Comparing them to Wii 64, the audio uses Gaussian interpolation.

Huh, no idea as I've never heard of these patches before. Maybe?

Oh yeah I'm aware it is due to the Wii's RAM, which is why I hope that if the Wii U port becomes a reality, we see it come to fruition with the GUI similar to that of the PS3. :P

BTW where did they get the list of titles that the thread mentions? A leak?

Yeah, I know they got RA at least to show up on the homebrew launcher, He just needs time to code it over in C, I think. :P
