I apologize for creating a noobish thread for this but since I'm planing to bring my Wii U to the internet soon in order to play Super Mario Maker online I wanted to be 100 % sure.
Is it reported that anyone ever received an update while using Tubehax?
I'm aware of the router nus block lists (which are not 100 % save by the way) and that I'd be safe if I plug my console off after usage but however, I want a definite answer for this.
It's helpful for everyone here to share experiences on this.

Nope nobody only people claiming that it did by their own mistake not setting it up properly.

Unless smea decides to remove his tubehax blacklist (lmao that would be funny) you won't be in danger.

There was a topic made last week claiming they used TubeHax and it failed on them. Like someone previously mentioned it could of very well been user fault.

Didn't smea or whoever owns that address say it could go down on accident and it's not guarantee to block updates on the unforseen chance it does go down?

The only legitimate time it came close AFAIK was the browser update prompt and that was because it used a new domain which hadn't been blocked.

Also people confuse the console attempting to download the update (when it says that a error occurred) with it actually downloading the update. Even when most guides explicitly tells them about it.

even if he does I have my fallback solution (firewall URL filter):

nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.shop.wii.com
nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net
nus.wup.shop.nintendo.net
c.shop.nintendowifi.net
cbvc.cdn.nintendo.net
cbvc.nintendo.net
shop.nintendowifi.net
shop.wii.com
shop.nintendo.net

are blocked.

and tubehax DNS is in my router. so no device in my net can get an update (Wii U, 3DS, N3DS). and when I want to update emunand once or twice a year, it is just 4 clicks and takes me 20 seconds to remove those 2 (dns and firewall) options.

Same here but there are many reports where router blocking (without Tubehax of course) lead to an update.
I guess that's a router specific issue. Which router do you use?

People don't seem to understand that if Tubehax goes down, then your Wiiu won't be able to resolve ANY URLs... So there is literally no chance you would receive an update if tubehax ever went down, because you have no backup DNS listed. People claiming tubehax failed them are simply too tech illiterate, there's bound to be a few of those people.

... until the Tubehax IP is being given to someone else by random who's hosting a DNS server without the blacklist, because he's not aware what Tubehax was actually. Then there's Thanksgiving for everyone or am I wrong?

Plus a super secret Agent 47, hired by Nintendo, could rush smea's house and remove the blacklist after killing him. Then all Wii U's with internet access are "up to date" in an instant. ;)

:rofl2: That's more than enough content for a good movie, we should make a plot and give it to steven spielberg. :grog:

Aha. Already planned for that that's why I have tubehax and router blocks and my trusty tinfoil hat. Agent 47's got nothing on me.

ASUS RT-N12 (the cheapest I could get) and it blocks efficiently. Even without tubehax it wouldn't let me update to 10.7 a few weeks ago. I forgot to take the URL filter off in firewall settings.

I just put then in my router by mac address.
So you're blocking your Wii U completely which means no online playing?

No, I mean I have filtering set up properly to block updates (and some other stuff) for my Wii U regardless of its IP address or the DNS server its using.

@lordelan These URLs have been working fine to block stuff for me for a few months now.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
