Hello,
So I'm thinking of buying a 2DS but I'm curious just as to how far its been hacked? Has it been hacked meaning is it possible to run roms and homebrew on it via the use of a flashcart or CFW? If yes then what is the MAX C.F.W it has been hacked up to?

Thank you

It's been hacked to the same extent as a 3DS. The answer to all your questions is yes, and you can hack it on any firmware below 11.0.

Sorry if this seems like a pointless thread but there isn't ant specific mention anywhere to the 2DS. Most threads are about the 3ds and the N3DS. So its hard to find info on the 2DS At least for me.
But how can it be hacked via flashcarts or cfw? In order to specifically run downloaded roms

Almost every single guide that applies to the 3DS (not N3DS) also applies to the 2DS. So all you have to do is find a guide on how to hack an O3DS and you're set.

A9LH loads a CFW before boot, allowing EmuNAND9, Decrypt9 to launch before SysNAND, preventing (almost) all bricks. Pretty much, it's just Luma3DS that auto-boots into SysNAND. No exploits needed to launch into CFW.
Confirming this. You can also update your system while keeping your hacks f o r e v e r

Just a note: You can't install A9LH with system firmware 11.0.0, as that has disabled downgrading. You need to have a hardmod to downgrade if you're on 11.

There is also a very slim chance to brick, meaning your console COULD possibly become unusable if instructions are not followed properly.

At the end of the day, it's up to you what you choose.

Yeah... Its probably the best time to mention that I'm a total noob to this scene. So words like emunand9 just confuse me

As long as their 2ds isn't directly from Nintendo nor bought used by an active owner, I highly doubt it'll come with a 11.0 firmware.

Other anonlmao, you'll be fine as long as you follow the steps without skipping any.

Cfw allows for piracy and homebrew

Thanks but I new that already.

What did snowdori mean by all this

"A9LH loads a CFW before boot, allowing EmuNAND9, Decrypt9 to launch before SysNAND, preventing (almost) all bricks. Pretty much, it's just Luma3DS that auto-boots into SysNAND. No exploits needed to launch into CFW."

Unless you want me to break it down in a long tl;dr, you will basically have a 100% consistent+discreet boot into a hacked firmware (ability to pirate/run homebrew directly from your home menu) and the ability to unbrick your system in case you accidentally install something dangerous to your NAND (chip which stores your operating system)

EmuNAND9/Decrypt9 - They can restore a backup if you ever brick. (Brick - basically destroy your software, rendering it unusable)
Luma3DS - Most commonly used CFW
No exploits - Turn your system on and you're in a CFW. No menuhax/browserhax needed
