ok so I did EXACTLY what Plailects guide said I had the exact files I checked them like 20 times the whole downgrade went through and i left it for about 2 min at the 10 second reboot message just to be safe but once I forced it off and turned it back on i get the error message I can access recovery menu but that looks like it will only update to the newest firmware so is there something I am missing? I am on a n3DS

that sound bad =(
have the same issue back when 10.7 was the latest fw.
only formatting help ( recovery -> downgrade to 9,2 -> boot). without formatting 3ds i downgrade like 5 times succesfully but always boot on "An error occurred. Press power button.."

so guess my only choice is to just update to the latest firmware?

for recovery purpose - yes, but you wont be able to downgrade afaik
working device is better than no device at all luckily still have my sky3ds which hopefully still works on the latest firmware ill just be missing out on cia and unlocking the cpu

Probably just bad RNG. The downgrade isn't "stable", but it is "safe" in terms of being able to unbrick it.

You should have downgraded while 10.7 was the latest firmware!

yeah was just afraid to even bother with trying to but felt the new update practically forced me into trying

There was no risk besides what you just experienced, but now 11.0 is up. In any case, it's good you have a working system, but if you want to hack that particular system you'll have to commission a hardmodder: https://gbatemp.net/threads/list-of-hardmod-installers-by-region.414224/
yeah I'll just wait until there is a new exploit which in the hacking world is inevitable and hopefully one that won't mess up even when you do everything word for word and by the way for anybody curious (though doubtful since most use cfw here lol) sky3ds+ still works on the latest firmware

It may be a while unfortunately.

Kind of hard to say, really! You never know if it'll be tomorrow or 3 years from now! It's just a matter of interest/someone managing to find a new entrypoint and kernel exploit.

However, the hardmod option is definitely viable: just do it before Nintendo pulls out another update that could potentially patch downgrading via hardmod permanently!

yeah well I've already paid a fortune for the 3ds and sky3ds+ as well as a few eshop games so I don't really want to spend the money on that type of service on top of that nor can I trust to send my 3ds to a random stranger (no offense if hard modders actually read this) so I can wait the sky3ds+ will do for now

Why not do it yourself? There are some very detailed guides out there.

I am no good with that type of stuff I'll just end up breaking it which I rather not risk that lol
Yes, I would suggest either staying on 11.0 with your Sky3DS or commission a hardmodder.

Either way, I would advise heavily not to update anymore if you intend to wait out a new userland+kernel exploit. (Userland'll be fixed fast, it's already confirmed)

However, you could also back up your saves using Ninjhax when userland's fixed, sell your 3DS, and buy another one at a lower firm and re-attempt the downgrade and re-import the saves after you succeed.

well I didn't plan on updating it was just my only choice lol but yeah the selling and rebuying thing to me personally wouldn't be worth it as ill be losing money (I only buy new and would have to sell my 3ds for cheaper) just for cfw I mean CFW isn't THAT important to me I mainly liked the fact of unlocking the cpu for older games but cia was a nice addition but I think I can live without it if need be it just would have been nice to have
