Persona 5 Japanese Release Date Announced for September 15

Atlus has revealed the release date for Persona 5 in Japan today for both PS3 and PS4 via a new trailer. The latter showcases the new title's gameplay and characters. Take a look for yourself below:

The news come roughly 2 weeks after a cryptic countdown started on the website. The countdown ended today, with the simultaneous release of the new trailer and release date.

No official news about a Western release but it shouldn't be too late before they announce one!

Damn, my vacation would have ended by then :P rip grades.

Anyways, I'm still hoping for a simultaneous release between the US and Japan!

but the problem is they will release it on US/EUR version on 2017
We don't know that. They've said that 9/15 is the Japanese release date, but they didn't say that it isn't also the Worldwide release. And even if it isn't, they still have 3.5 months left in the year. Considering that the gap between SMTIV's JP and NA release was less than 2 months, it wouldn't be impossible for them to do the same thing here.

Most likely not, but we'll find out for sure at E3. Luckily there's already plenty of great games coming out this summer, so it won't be that dry.
hey the less games coming out this summer, the better :D
i'm on a limited budget, even with the games already announced

it's got a ps4 and ps3 logo at the end of the trailer. Since it's all cel-shaded anime stuff I wonder how much worse ps3 would actually be? Or if it's like Disgaea where the only reason it went on PS3 for D3 was because it was the new console.

Also, hoping against hope for a PC release.

Persona's strength lies in its gameplay rather than graphics and I'm assuming its not coming to PC since not a single persona entry has been ported there but who knows. I sure don't have any psychic powers to know the future.

Just because a video game contains "anime stuff" graphics it doesn't mean there's no benefits to be found in upgraded hardware. For example, here's an image comparison for Dynasty Warriors:

There's also the simple addition of more particles, NPCs, etc. If I remember correctly, the first P5 trailer contained a shot of the main character at a crowded crosswalk. With upgraded hardware it could actually look like a crowded crosswalk instead of having a few NPCs. There's also reduced load times to consider.

True, there hasn't been any SMT game (aside from SMT Imagine that we all knew wouldn't last long) on the PC recently, but we've been getting plenty of JRPGs ported from consoles to the PC lately. It's totally possible they'd opt for one. That being said, it wouldn't be released for quite some time after the PS3/PS4 release, and a lot of us can't wait that long.
