i got a question of thought is the discwriter able to be used on windows 10, for sky3ds or do i need to downgrade to windows 7/8 as im on 10 and i keep getting a corrupted file error and it never lets me extract it help ???

I created my Emunand using Gateway's launcher.dat back in December. Do I have to switch it to a Rednand for the purpose of following Plailect's guide or can I keep it like that ?
I also have my NNID linked on it will it be kept? (since I use it for Pokebank access)

Ok...Im not trying to be dumb. but all I see is the Word "link" but its use is to just inform the reader that they should Link their Nintendo ID to RedNAND. not SysNAND, which the "Initial Setup" would do if you set up internet settings.
I too, see the word Link, but it never says "Oh hey, dont forget to Unlink SysNAND from RedNAND"
in the Old method there was clearly a step that said, its smarter to unlink the NANDs...but for RedNAND it does not.

I clearly followed the steps.
I hope I'm not coming off as angry or anything, I'm just trying to point out you guys are defending something that isnt there...

In the list of steps you quoted to show me that there's nothing about unlinking, you're right, there's nothing explicit about unlinking.

However, in that guide they are using TinyFormat to format SysNAND in order to Unlink the NANDs (@pbandj and I were trying to tell you this all along).

I was thinking that you didn't know what TinyFormat does, and I was right so I'll give you a quick rundown of what it is:

TinyFormat is an alternative to formatting System Memory (in order to unlink NANDs), and is much better since you don't have to take out your SD card in order to format.

Yes you can use it. Yes your nnid will be kept. It has you make a backup of it before you start messing with it

I have a question about Sky3DS+ (orange buttons). I know that if I would to go online I'd be needing a private header, but what about StreetPass alone? Can I activate streetpass without a private header? I don't mind too much not playing online, but streetpass features are often pretty nice.

You can install the homebrew launcher CIA so you don't need oothax. You can also install the FBI CIA so you can just launch it to install games

Hey everyone, new 3DS hacker here.

First of all, I have searched thoroughly but can't find an answer to this particular problem, which is oddly specific.

My 3DS is fully set up having followed the Plailect's for getting arm9loaderhax and I have fully functional FBI, through which I have installed a couple of games which load and play perfectly fine.

All except for Super Smash Bros. I must say that my main goal for hacking my 3DS was to be able to modify Super Smash Bros.

I installed it last and played it last night and it all played fine without any issues. Today I got everything set up with SaltySD and tried to launch the game, however it hung on a black (loading?) screen immediately after booting and stayed there for well over half an hour. For the life of me I can't figure out what has gone wrong and caused Smash to be unable to load.

What I have tried:

• Removing update data and launching Smash without SaltySD update installed
• Completely uninstalling Smash Bros (and deleting save data) and reinstalling through FBI
• Using a completely different Smash Bros download + Region (Both USA and EU)
• Running the game through a physical cart
• Deleting all folders from my SD card relating to SaltySD and Smash specific modding, and then reinstalling Smash

As I mentioned previously, the other games I have installed seem to be running perfectly fine, so the issue seems to be specific to Smash Bros itself. (However other games that I haven't tried MAY or MAY NOT have the same issue).

3DS details: Old3DSXL, EU System, Sys 10.7.0-32E

Running arm9loaderhax having followed the pinned tutorial.

Been out of the scene for a while and would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of a guide to bring me up to date with latest exploits and boot options. I'm currently running OFW 4.3.0-10E and GW3D 10.5.0-30E.

Last I heard the best option was to update to OFW 9... to enable cold boot into CFW but don't know if this is still the case.

Anyone want to provide assistance as to why the oot3d exploit is failing to let me install homebrew on the n3ds 10.7? After it goes to the black screen to being installing it says Homebrew menu ropbin ready then crashes and goes back to the main 3ds menu. Pretty sure the file on my game card is fine, however I have a feeling there is something with the homebrew starter files.

This basically Futureproofs your 3ds and you can run it as a Region free console with the latest firmware. It took me 4h to do the whole thing so have patience and follow every step.

Forget GW and Flashcarts this is the future.

I did something stupid and tried to downgrade my AL9H N3DS XL to try fixing an eShop update error. I keep a second SD card with a EmuNAND of my pre AL9H 9.2 NAND set to autoboot when AL9H is installed. Would I be able to extract that EmuNAND and flash it once I get my hardmod? I do have a "Good" 10.7 SysNAND/AL9H image, but it has the eShop update issues.

It says to jump to step 18 if im already on 9.2.0-20u which i already am on. I then see that step 19 says load emu9 thats not even found on my hombrew launcher so im confused as to what do now? Do i skip step 2 or do i have to do this backup again i already did it previously while upgrading to 9.2.0 ....

You get EmuNand9 and continue on and back up your 9.2 NAND.
