The main benefits of A9LH is a faster boot time than menuhax, the ability to update sysnand if you desire, and the ability to unbrick your 3DS in most situations. It's like the BootMii of the 3DS, if you've hacked a Wii before.

Is it worth it? That's up to you. At this point in time, as long as you follow a guide word-for-word, it's generally safe enough to do.

It's not, but it's better. Don't do it if you have not enought exp, without reading enought, and without time.
Emunand or rednand are better for some people.

Indeed is better for some people, but by using Emunand/Rednand can kill the SD card more quickly and is slow too because of the reading/writing process.

So I say a9lh is better.

Well yes, but it's not a "must have". Also, A9LH is not as trivial as creating a emunand is.

A9LH Pros

+ Faster boot
+ Install GBA VC / DSiWare only once
+ 100% Bootrate
+ Recover from a brick without any hardmod if you screw something
+ Don't have to worry about being in SysNAND / EmuNAND for updating

A9LH Cons

- Long and risky process (ONLY if you don't follow the steps correctly, if you do it's as risky as downgrading to 9.2)

EmuNAND / RedNAND with MenuHax Pros

+ Simple and noob proof setup

EmuNAND / RedNAND with MenuHax Cons

- Long boot times
- Need to install GBA VC twice
- Low bootrate (~65%)
- You'll need to get a hardmod if you brick your console for some reason
- @Margen67 will call you a peasant

But I can do it later right?

Yup. You can always create a RedNAND/emuNAND and move your 3DS over to the A9LH stage. It's not that hard to do, just tedious and slightly worrying because you downgrade twice and then use a program to get your console's OTP file, and then install it.

Just to clarify that point. A9lh allows to have a sysNAND-only configuration but does not force you to leave the emuNAND/redNAND system.

Is not a must, but is very advantageous to have.

I was afraid as you are (relying on Menuhax + coldboot). I have it a go a few days ago, and now I've installed A9LH twice.

The guide is really safe. If you go for it, follow the steps and doble check everything you do. It's a long but very straightforward proccess.

Yes, but that's common sense. Also, for what OP ¡s saying, he's gonna replace his emunand for his sysnand. It's one of the main pros for some people.

Do you think menuhax is annoying (too long to boot, not consistent enough, whatever) ?

If you answered yes to this question, then a9lh is a must.
If you answered no to that question, you can stick to menuhax. then ask yourself honestly:
Are you a fucking masochist that wants to go through a 5 hours torture just because?
Hey, that last one sounds like me... Installi... Oh, wait, I already installed it... I suppose I will have to look for another source of pain.

Lol. Yes, the first time was awful (aren't all first times terrible?), but I've installed A9LH on many o3DSes and now I can say, I don't mind doing it. Sure, I need the free time (one of my 3DSes did not like the installation at all and I had to format everything with the big red button before anything worked properly)...
