Hello everyone! I have a Wii that is too new to install bootmii as boot2 ): and I don't want to deal with priiloader but I wanted to install wads. I was paranoid to install them without any brick protection (and I should be) but I made this tutorial that should make it easy for anyone to test out wads without brick protection (but don't, It's still a bad idea.) I introduce to you my new method:
BannerNope! (lol)
This method does require that you haven't installed the wad yet or that you have but haven't exited homebrew yet. (it's also just a theory so far, but I would love someone *with brick protection just in case* to try it out!)
**NOTE*** This is more of a brick prevention (sort of) beforehand then afterwards. If your system menu is already corrupted, sorry!

Requierments:
-An SD card (sdhc works on 4.3 and stuff)
-A wii (duh)
-USB Loader GX
-A cIOS (for usb loader gx)
-Anytitle Deleter
-A wad installer (use MMM for best results)

How to do it:
1. Install the wad (whether it's a bad or good one)
2. Exit TO THE HOMEBREW CHANNEL
3. Open usb loader gx
4. Select the option to show nand channels
5. Find the one you installed
(this is the part that needs testing)
6. If the channel is blank but the name is there, it is a BAD wad. If everything is normal about it, you're good to go!
If the wad is bad:
7. Exit TO HOMEBREW CHANNEL
8. Open anytitle deleter
9. Delete the channel
10. Exit to system menu, all done!

Please, test it out! Let me know the results! Does it work? Or not?

Personally, I'd take the initial risk and install priiloader since that provides better overall protection once you get past the initial risk.

In theory there could be issues with these e.g. if usb loader gx crashes and it's a bad wad you may be stuck with a bricked console.

Also priiloader can provide access to bootmii as ios.

That's a very misleading title. This doesn't fix banner bricks at all. If your Wii is bricked because of a bad channel the system menu will never load and you cannot launch the HBC.

An even better way to make sure your wads don't have bad banners is to set up a NEEK environment and install them to there. Then, (as far as the system menu knows,) it's running from the real NAND filesystem.

what is that bad banner and how can I check that before?
A bad banner is a banner for a wii channel as a was that is not the correct size for what it should be. You can (sort of) check it before with the tutorial that you are reading right now. As far as I know there is no other way.

So it will not work at all?
(Also, what should I change the title to?)

can I use dolphin emlator on PC to check if it is OK?

Yes, but I heard that there may be different results in the real wii vs dolphin. It MAY show you if the wad is bad or not.

and there is no wad checking tool? or a way to just load the wad without installing it?
I wish there was, but no. I read that it would be really hard to make one.

Also, I would love to try neek out, but the tutorials are just so complicated.
Do you know of a simple tutorial?

but when I got priiloader I can always fix it, right?
Yeah (:

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

So to sum up what I am trying to figure out right now:
Priiloader can load to the HBC when you have a banner brick. If you install the bad wad but don't exit to the system menu at all through the whole process, would this tutorial work? If it is possible, can someone test it out?

If you have a title with a bad banner installed and you have Priiloader you can just load straight into the HBC and use a WAD manager to remove it.

The banner brick only happens because the system menu crashes while it's enumerating the channels and runs across the corrupted banner.

I understand that. What I am saying is that if you just never exited the homebrew channel, then the system menu wouldn't have been affected (meaning it's there, but the wii hasn't had the banner brick happen yet) by the wad so just using homebrew programs you could solve the issue before you go into the system menu. Is it possible?
