Anyone out there using 128 GB cards? Which one do you use and hows the boot time?
I use this card, and I also have a 13 seconds boot. That's normal, and using faster cards is useless, as the 3DS can't even use UHS1 speeds...

You could also consider switching to A9LH+SysNAND CFW, so you rely on internal hardware NAND read/write speeds.
The speeds will stay the same (and actually, I use A9LH, and I have the same boot time as OP). The 3DS needs to mount the SD card, and that's why it's slower when larger capacity cards are used.

But wait, is that before or after the A9LH payload is loaded? Do you think that could be improved by a CFW implementation, or is it more of a hardware issue?

Yes, this is generally normal for 128GB cards. I originally had a A9LH/AuEmuNAND setup and switching from 32GB to 128GB increased boot times from 8 to 14 seconds. After moving everything to sysNAND and then deleting the emuNAND partition however, my boot time was reduced to about 9 seconds. It seems that having an emuNAND partition significantly slows down initial boot up.

Yeah, I can't imagine boot time with an EmuNAND is a whole faster whether using A9LH or not. If you want faster loading time, you have to ditch the EmuNAND.

That's odd. I have the exact same class 10 128gb Sandisk as you, on a N3DSXL with A9LH and no EmuNAND, and my boot time from power button to home screen is 9 seconds. I just timed it.

Almost every member who upgraded their console sd card to 128GB regardless of whether they have A9LH or any CFW, they complain boot times increase by almost twice. This is normal.

People have reported speed-ups by formatting their SD-cards to FAT32 with 64kB cluster size. You can set this in GUIFormat or the latest version of EmuNAND9 does this by default on >32GB SD-cards. (Do back up your things.)

Do you have sysnand a9lh? Because I'm using sysnand.

What sd card so you use?

I used emunand9 to format.
