Sooooooo yeah... I tried to turn on my 2DS, and it brings me to the "Select a language" screen. It still won't boot w/o an SD card, either, so I'm not sure what's going on. I'm not yet willing to go through with the setup process, because I don't want to mess anything else up. The last thing I did on the system before I just powered it on was try and run Uncart on a DS Lite game. Help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to lose my saves. Thanks!

  • It's running AuReiNAND 5.1 and 10.7
  • I have the same AuReiNAND settings (and the same exact programs) on my friend's 3DSXL
  • I can still access Decrypt9, Uncart, AuReiNAND CFW settings, and EmuNAND9

I personally don't know if Uncart works on DSL games but my guess would be that there was a format done to the 3ds. Just try continuing through the Select a language screen. Your cias are installed on your sd card.

Ok, give me a sec, I'll post back the results.

Ok, so it's good news. Everything's fine, luckily. Lesson learned - don't try to make a .3ds file out of a DS Lite game. Thanks!

Also, on a side note, is your SD card worth the money? I was thinking about purchasing this or this SD card, as it's my goal to dump my entire GBA/DS/Atari/3DS game collection to one awesome system. Thanks!

Most people report that their system runs slower than it should on SD cards 64GB and above. I recommend at the most going with 64, and the recommended size by Nintendo is 32GB.

Thanks. How bad is your 256GB one? Also, I don't think 64GB is enough. I'll ask around Reddit and maybe here to get some more insight, but so far I read that formatting it to FAT-32 helps, and the only lag is via the home menu (slightly slower to launch)

64gb is more than enough for most people. I have a 64gb and even with 5-6 games installed to it (I forget how many lol), I've barely made a dent into it. I haven't even beaten all of them yet. Unless you're more of a "install now, play all 30+ games later" kind of person, you should be ok and yeah. You do need it to be formatted to fat32.

Well I didn't buy it actually, got it from a Nintendo Event in the city where you play tournaments using their own N3DS'es. One of them apparently had a 256GB sd card :P
It runs slightly slower than my Lexar 32GB one.

I don't have one. That's why I said "other people have reported"

That's good to know! I don't want to run out of space, but a lowered performance on an already weak system may not be worth it.

It runs slightly slower, but I'm also using this sd card for my Canon.
You should probably get the 128GB one. I have around 51 games(excluding VCs) on my card and the Nintendo 3DS folder takes up barely 45gb

Ok, I'd probably get the 128 just due to the pricing. I can recall some people from /r/wiihacks purchasing 4TB external hard drives for their collections. Also, I just got a reply on Reddit that claims I'll have issues with FBI and .cia files, so maybe 64 then?

I don't know of any issues as I stopped using FBI alongside my old 32GB card. But I haven't had any using BBM
It was suggested to me on Reddit to get a Flashcart for DSL games (which I have a lot of), and settle with 64 :/. At least it's confirmed to work.
