I'm finally ready to install a9lh on my N3DS that I use with GW. However, I still make regular use of my GW, and don't like the hassle of the current workaround. Since the current workaround still involves having an EmuNAND, I see no reason to jump on the updated SysNAND bandwagon if I can avoid it. Would the following setup work?

  • a9lh Aureinand 9.2 SysNAND/10.7 EmuNAND
  • Aureinand boots 9.2 SysNAND -> SysNAND MenuHax loads CtrBootManager -> CtrBootManager loads GW.3dsx -> launcher.dat boots into GW EmuNAND because GW Card is inserted

What settings would I need to change in Aureinand to make it work? The only setup that I'm currently familiar with is the Updated SysNAND setup from the OTP guide.

You can get the modded hbl that loads gateway and intsall it to your 9.2 sysnand and run that and it will direct to your updated emunand. Or install it on a 9.2 emunand and it will go to your updated sysnand. Your choice. I believe you have to select sysnand mode in the gateway menu to actually have it work.

I know about the .cia that I can install to manually load it. I'm simply trying to stay automated like I currently am. I want to keep the ability to just insert my GW card and push the power button on to boot into GW Mode. The amount of time it takes to boot doesn't matter so much as the automation does. I also tend to keep it in sleep mode, so it's not like I boot it very often.

I guess the real question is how to set up Aureinand to load into 9.2 SysNAND by default? The rest of it should work in theory.

Disable updated sysnand and enable boot sysnand by default in the config menu (will appear on first ARN boot and whenever you hold select later)

Yes, this will work. Just proceed with the steps as if you had set up RedNAND. Be sure to grab the FIRMS.7z from the bottom of the AuReiNand Github home page, and put the firmware90.bin in the aurei folder. When you turn on the 3DS, hold L and it will boot into emuNAND with the 9.0 firmware in place. Then set up MenuHaxLoader to boot with L, so that when you turn it on, it directly boots you into the Homebrew Loader on 9.0 firmware emuNAND, and you can launch Gateway from there. Hope that helps you.

Got it up and running today. Thankfully, Aureinand v5 had more options to make setting it up easier.

Boot sequence: Aureinand -> 9.2 SysNAND -> MenuHax -> CtrBootManager -> GW.3dsx -> 10.7 EmuNAND
