Hacking Best practices after Plailect guide for running AuReiNand cfw

I imagine I am not alone in that I have recently setup my 3ds using Plailect's amazing guide and now run the AuReiNand cfw but am not an expert and would like some guidance on what to do now and in the future.

Firstly I would like to clean up my sd and remove apps etc that I used during the guide but won't need now I have my otp and system setup:

From HBL menu:

'Cakes' - seems to do nothing (but as I am running AuReiNand it ought not to, right?) - So can I remove the 'cakes' folder from the sd\3ds folder?

'OTP Helper' as I have the OTP can I remove this app?

What about these:
'SafeA9LHInstaller'
'ironhax installer'
'menuhax_manager v2.2'
'miniPasta' - doesn't seem to do anything
'sploit_installer-oot3dhax'

I would like to leave anything that might be useful in the future just want to remove anything that is no longer working, required or possibly disruptive.

What is the best way to backup my system / sd card?

Finally what apps etc do I need to keep an eye on and keep updated? I just updated AuReiNand to 4.2 and now have the nice option of showing the firmware in System settings. I wonder if I need to keep Decrypt9 and EmuNAND9 updated (is there anything else?) but I a bit out of my depth now...

the 3ds folder is where you store homebrew apps for the homebrew channel. You don't NEED anything there to run aureinand but there are some useful things like an ftp client homebrew. I just finished with the guide as well and have nothing in that folder since I don't really use much homebrew. Tbh unless you use something from the homebrew channel on a regular basis it's probably better to just get the latest version if you do end up needing it anyway.

Not sure about Cakes, ironhax installer, menuhax manager, miniPasta, sploit_installer. Not sure if they now don't work and / or may cause damage.

You can also remove FBI and mGBA and install them as .cias on your sysnand (assuming you're using updated sysnand mode). Also you don't really need tinyformat so it's better to remove that too.

You could delete Cakes since you're using aurei, ironhax unless you want to install it on your ironfall cia (just in case if anything gets patched but this), menuhax (but be sure to uninstall it and delete the cache), minipasta and sploit.

Chmm2 has a cia, decrypt9/emunand9 can be launched before system boot, FBI works better injected, region free is built into cakes and aurienand(not sire about orig reinand), the eshop shit is useless with cfw and even more so with a9lh, there are cias of the ftp apps. Anything hans and the screen shot tool can do ntr does.

With cias and the alternative stuff there really isn't any reason to use the homebrew menu anymore

Thanks! I didn't know some of them were around as cias (CHMM2, mGBA) and i see that they have no place in my HBL. But for some apps I like them in HBL as well as injected / installed into my NAND.

So watch AuReiNAND, decrypt9, EmuNAND9 and FBI for new versions?

The rest of the stuff is optional / as per personal usage?

Can anyone confirm that Cakes and miniPasta no longer work / are needed if running Aureinand after following Plailect's guide?

Ya you don't needs cakes or pasta. Pasta is totally useless and cakes has a9lh stuff if you want to use it

I may be mistaken, but I think eshop-old was used long ago to download an old exploitable version of Ironfall, and has been subsequently patched. But I may be wrong!

There is no way to remove the region free launcher from the HBL.

If you are using Masher's Grid Launcher there is an option to disable it from appearing in the menu, but it cannot be removed.

I actually didn't notice that ftpbrony or nasa was there so those will be removed. All the homebrew I was using I have as cias so no need for the homebrew menu. I just keep it for dsp dumper.

The picture at the end of the guide is great for deleting stuff you dont need on your sd card (AS LONG AS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DELETING) and all homebrew is in the /3ds folder so you can delete/clean it up as you please. You can always put the homebrew back later

Yes, that picture was my starting point.

To make a backup of my mSD card - I used (from Plailect's guide part 5 part V) EmuNAND 9 to format another (my backup) mSD card and then copied the contents from my current mSD card to my backup mSD card. I just checked the card and it seemed to work. If I am wrong please let me know!
