So I don't have a BlueRay disk drive to hook up to dump BlueRay movies to my machine so I was considering to buy an ASUS BlueRay drive and a USB 3.0 DVD drive case, but then I thought that if it is possible to dumps blue-ray movies on a jailbroken PS3 (doesn't need to be decrypted/decoded since I could probably just use makeMKV to decrypt/decode the movie). I also had the desire to dump some of my PS3 games so I could use it with the RPCS3 emulator in the future.

So I can essentially kill two birds (Dumping movies and games) with one stone (Using the PS3). Plus it seems cheaper to do it this way anyway, as least looking at what this person is offering for the price.

So would it be possible?

Edit: My PS3 is above 3.55 firmware, but I remember running hacks on it before so it is possible to pay someone to downgrade it for me.

Doesn't multiman create an ISO of it?

I heard about MultiMan but I never used it before so I am not sure.
I don't personally have a BluRay disc to try out but try if it works. Download multiman as a pkg file. Install it and open the app. Insert the Blu ray disc and once it pops up in Multiman hit trianlge. If its just like backing up games there should be a option to create an iso. Hope this helps :).

Well... my PS3 is actually above 3.55 firmware so I sadly can't test it. I should have been clearer about that, sorry.

No worries, but as far as I know there is no way to dump any sort of discs on OFW.
Yeah, I figured that it would be the case. So I was debating whether to go with my previous plan and just dump Blu-ray movies or pay someone to hack my PS3 and downgrade it in order to dump Blu-ray movies (and PS3 Games).

even if it was possible, and i don't know if it is or not.
it would be very slow and wouldn't work on very many discs at all since most have copy protection and there is no anydvd for ps3.

If you're going to send it to someone by an online service it will cost around 50$ like here(asuming you have a compatible nor ps3) Downgrading it yourself will cost around 40$. Or you can just buy the disc reader for 52$.

While I could live with the slow speeds and lack of direct decryptions on the PS3 (I should be able to mount the ISO on my (Linux) laptop and use MakeMKV), the fact that it won't work with many disks is going to be a deal breaker for me.

I don't have my PS3 with me right now so I am not sure if my PS3 Slim has an NAND or NOR chip. But it does seem like I am going to have to go with my original plan. So much for killing two birds with one stone. But thank you for the link, I will consider this in the future when I don't have to worry about saving up money.
