I feel like making a community thread. I don't see anywhere that says this will break any thread rules so I went ahead.

What is your favorite thing you've done with homebrew/what is your favorite homebrew? What is it you like the most about what you can do/do with it and why?

Personally, I found the entire downgrading process and installing A9LH to be very interesting. I learned a lot about NANDs, exploits, and all of the very specific things that go into homebrew. Sure, I was at risk of bricking but that didn't stop me from enjoying what I was doing.

Other than that, I like being able to play GBA games and hacks as well as install custom themes. Golden pants on my Mii is a pretty high point as well.

The thing i like most about homebrew is developing them.
I think it is interesting to develop for systems that aren't supposed to be developed on.
If you get what i mean ;)

EDIT: To see what the limits are, and how far you can push them. Also practically everything you can think of hasn't been done already, it is fairly new, and there aren't that much homebrew apps available, so whatever you do. you know it isn't for nothing.

Favorite homebrew, that's a tough one. Mainly because I don't use a lot of 3DS homebrew :P
I have to say OTPHelper is a godsend though. It takes most of the risk out of getting OTP while making it nearly idiot proof (I say nearly because nothing can ever be truly idiot proof)
Decrypt9 might be my favorite, simply because of the variety of tasks it can accomplish. It's one of the most useful tools for anyone on 9.2 or below.

That's all really helpful system tools, but what about homebrew, that doesn't do something with the system? If we'd talk about the wii, I choose WiiMC, but a mediacenter doesn't exist for 3ds so far

(A) lol everyones answer "hack my 3ds"
(B) my personal favorite (besides the cfw itself!) is gytb because my own badges are way way better than Nintendo's also if i really wanted i could use it for official (pirated) badges with it and save myself the space that "Nintendo badge arcade" takes up

besides that i like mashers hbc mod, and region free patches (whoever made these patches is a godsend)

Well. I wouldn't count neither A9LH or GBA VC injection as homebrew. A9LH is cfw/hacks. GBA VC injection is ROM hacks.

Next question? :P

When I was just starting out as a noob- gridlauncher was my favorite! The fact that I could create custom homebrew menu themes was awesome! I created a Punch Out theme if you want to check it out here for my family member and I felt very proud of myself :). My recent favorite homebrew is Eculocid. I felt the downgrade process pretty stressful :P but it was interesting to learn. I always felt that the Retroarch emulators were pretty awesome and I let my family members play with them :D

Absolutely not.

Explain. I thought homebrew was a generalized term for things/apps/etc. on a device that are generally unsigned and are not supported by Nintendo, for example. Anyway, you still need to go through homebrew in order to get CFW and such. Without homebrew (aside from maybe hard modding), you wouldn't be able to do all of this. I was pointing out the process of it all in the long run.

Anyway, you say next question without answering the initial question. ;o

When first hearing the question, FTP comes to mind but then I'm reminded, the only reason I need FTP is to use other homebrew..but I guess it still applies, since it makes homebrewing so much more easier having FTP ^^
Other than that, JK's Save Manager is probably the homebrew I've used most..

Howling Theme Tool, whilst technically not homebrew is one of my favorite utilities. I like managing themes through Nintendo's own theme switcher rather than CHMM2. (Partly because CHMM2 is a bit clunky sometimes and hangs).

i dont know why tv manufactures put the hdmi ports in dumb locations so the cables have to stick out, and then down, putting strain on the ports. Instead of having the ports along the bottom edge of the tv facing downwards.
