Hey,
I bought a Nintendo 3DS XL with "special features" according to the seller. But as I am not quite familiar with this topic I hoped that you guys could help me figure out what exactly it is that is running on the console. I will try to give you informatiion regarding the software installed on the 3DS, but if there is any more I can tell you to help figure it out, please ask! :)

Icons in the Home menu which probably have something to do with the CFW/program installed:
-FBI
-the homebrew launcher
-sysUpdater 0.4.2b by profi200

By starting the 3DS while pressing R, I get access to the sysnand(the seller called it that).
Also, the systems version is 10.7.0-32E

It'd be super nice if someone could help me, thanks in advance! :)

put your SD Card into your Computer.
if it has an armloader9hax.bin or sth like that on it then you got the al9h installed.
if you dont have that it must be Theme/menuhax...
just check the sd card.

And check the folders on your SD card too (only check the root, it isn't needed to check all subfolders to know what you're running). If you have an "aurei" folder, you have AuReiNand. If you have a "rei" folder, you have ReiNand. And so on. It doesn't tell which one is the default one (if you have several CFWs) but still, if you don't have an "rxTools" folder, then you're not running rxTools obviously.

Okay cool, thanks a lot. So just as an example, I have the Fire Emblem.3dsx file now. Can I just put it anywhere on the sd card? And will it then automatically pop up in the home menu, ready to be played? I have a european console, but the game is a USA one.

EDIT: Sorry, I see that I can start the game via HBL, thank you - i overread it.

You're going to want to backup the otp.bin on the sd card to your computer. Otherwise, if you lose that sd card you're screwed.

Also 3dsx files are run from the homebrew launcher. Cia files are installed to your home menu with fbi.

Thanks for the answer, How do I back up the OTP file, then? And also, I copied the Fire Emblem.3dsx file into /3DS/Games. but I cannot find it when im in the launcher

Fire Emblem.3dsx? You sure it isn't fire emblem.3ds? If it is find the .cia version and install with that FBI. You can't play roms as 3dsx

Ups its a .3ds, sorry :D So where do I put it to get it running? :O
Go to that iso site where you got the .3ds version of the and go to the cia section and find that game but as a cia file. Google that iso site if you dont know what im talking about. After you get it put it on your sd card open FBI and move the circle pad until you see the game. Click it and let it install. Go to home menu and you should see a gift. Click it and you will have the game. (I wish gbatemp could have a thread on how to pirate games so you dont have to explain how to for everyone.)

They do not seem to have it, can I get the file from another site? As long as it still is the appropriate game's cia file, its fine, no?

It should be in the a9lh folder on your sd card, but they might have deleted that folder. Anyway forget what I said about losing the sd card, you can set up another one, but be sure to make a nand backup. Just in case something goes bad.

Okay I will, it would be nice if you could explain as to how I can do that, though :) I will get a bigger SD card which I want to exchange for the one currently being used - Is there anything I have to watch out for, besides its format having to be fat32?

EDIT: I have OTP helper installed by the way - can I just run it? Or doesnt it work on 10.7?

something im not clear on is whether you are autobooting emuNAND or have a regular Updated SysNAND install. what happens when you hold down R while booting up? does it take you to home menu or launch something like Decrypt9?

when we say backup your otp file, we just mean copy it from your SD card to a safe place where you wont lose it like a cloud drive or at least to your PC.

when we say backup your NAND it means to use something like Decrypt9 or OTPhelper to create a SysNAND backup (and if you have emuNAND, one of those as well)
