but to be fair anyone running unsigned and unvetted code on their console should be aware of the inherent risks rom doing so.its hacking/piracy 101 run hacks/cracks/roms and it comes with inherent risks even down to malicious brick code, its been the same on pretty much every generation from flashcard bricks to system bricks where there is unsigned code there is a risk of someone running malicious code and honestly i think people should learn to accept that risk, sure its shitty and mean but thats why its important to do at least a bit of research before running crap fro random people on your console
There was no sign. People that had the normal DS assume you can buy a flashcart and thats final. They go on the web google 3ds flashcart and buy it,it isn't there fault that the seller and gateway fucked them over. Therefore,they are victims.

No it isn't Ive hacked the original xbox,psp,xbox 360,ps3,3ds,wii,and wiiu if u count loadine. I never once have bricked my console,so no it is not common sense.
psp had a brick code fiasco, original DS had brick code fiasco even the wii had its own bricking fiasco, smea bricked his wiiu 3ds had bricks, the n64 had brick code iirc that wiped the bios on the old school flashcards....not too sure about original xbox or xbox360 but im pretty sure that there was ways the end user cold end up with a brick if they do their mods wrong, oh and yeah there was the ps3 cfw brick fiasco too.....bricks are a inherent issue with CFW's/flashcards, sometimes its accidental or user error, other times its malicious, but regardless its a recurring risk for running unsigned code, and will almost certainly always will be

HOW TO USE CHEATS

Each file inside the cheats folder will be of the format <TitleID>.txt where TitleID is the title id of the game.
2. Boot into Gateway mode, and press SELECT to make the Gateway game selection menu appear.
3. Select your game and then press Y to enter cheat mode.
4. Enable the cheats you want and then press START to load the game.

but whatever maybe he will know next time that running unofficial crap on his console comes with risks....even if he pays for it or if its free, if its unofficial it will inherently come with a level of risk, i can honestly say (in my opinion) more people have been bricked by free CFW's than gateway/R4i DE/3DSlink/DSTwo+ combined......which just proves it, paying or not, malicious or not you can still end up bricked if you stray from official sources

What is the point in being a dick to the guy though? Answer me that? How does it benefit the community to have a ton of assholes that come into every thread someone makes about a brick just to laugh at them?
I suggest next time you just use a free CFW and a cheap R4 flashcart instead of a more expensive and risky Gateway clone.
The bullying on this forum is out of hand. It makes me absolutely sick that every single day someone bricks their consoles people tolerate the bullying and even encourage it. It is absolutely fucking disgusting that this behavior is tolerated pardon my french. We literally have members that are okay with the bullying yourself included,you jumped to defend unsympathetic good for nothing bullies. Never once does the OP get defended.
We have to change the culture here and make it absolutely clear that people bricking their consoles is not funny in any way.

i like to think i have a hal decent sense of when something is taken too far, and idk it may just be an english thing, but we have a term called "banter" where it *may* come across as mean to a sensitive soul, but to a normal regular guy they can take a bit of banter when they do something stupid, i.e i buy something on ebay and it turns out i didnt read the small print that says i get a picture of the item and not the real item....now i go tell my friends....tbh unless your in a nunnery i would genuinely expect to be given a bit of banter i.e "god what a tit", "well aint you dumb" etc etc.......now i could cry about it or just accept that yeah i did something dumb and yeah i am a bit of a tit, sure its still a bad situation and i would be a bit pissed off if all i got was offensive comments but the OP has also been given a fair amount of help, advice and guidance on what to do going forward, where he went wrong and i assume he will have learned his lesson from the ordeal.
now on the other hand if everyone molly coddled him and said "wow you did absolutely nothing wrong at all, there is no way you could have know, its all their fault, there is zero you could have done differently".....well then the OP leaves learning nothing at all and will almost certainly do exactly the same thing next time as nobody pointed out his mistake and nobody gave him any advise on how to go forward and learn from this to make better more informed decisions next time
