Recently, I got my hands on a cart of Slime Morimori Dragon Quest 3: Taikaizoku To Shippo Dan, the third entry in the series commonly known in English as Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. (If you haven't played the DS one, you are missing out!)

I'm not a translator (or really, much of a hacker) by any stretch of the imagination, but I've been poking around with the ROMFS a bit in EFE. Its files seem to be pretty compatible (it's a TON easier to mess with than Rhythm Heaven TB+) My question is, is there anyone else on GBATemp who would want to see this game in English?

EDIT: I've been able to extract text data. More info to come.

Yeahhh I would love to see it in English! I have so much difficulty trying to navigate through the Japanese text in the game, so English would make everything way easier ofc.

Yes! Please, I would love it so much! The DS game is one of my all time favorites, so this would be a miracle

NO, THIS GAME SUX

Just joking of course, I've played Rocket Slime 2 quite a few times and I enjoyed it a lot. It'd be nice to see this one translated.

Would be like a dream coming true.
Please take care from the usual unwanted press by some sites leading to C&Ds or "sudden project cancellations" shortly after.

I'll be following this thread, I love part 1, I have the CIA for part 3 installed but it just too much japanese text for me to enjoy without knowing the language.

Okay, so making some progress

The game's textures are in the form of pretty standard .bcres and .arc files, which ohana can open :)
I did find some .xbb files, which I was able to extract using Google's help. (they appear to be just map files, containing textures and collision data)
I did find (what I assume to be) the text! It's stored in a ton of .bppt files, which nobody else appears to have encountered before--a google search brings up business taxes in virginia, but precious little in the way of rom hacking. More research is required.

There appears to be a ship referenced in the game's code as SHPinkMormon. I have no idea why

While I have zero skill/knowledge in hacking, I give you my full support watching from the sidelines :yay:
Hopefully someone with more experience can help, I am extremely interested in this project.

if i could help i would, keep it up man your awesome.

it would be very neat to have at the very least Menus translated,

menus and in battle menus, and as for the item/skills etc. you could take your time on that .

but for the begining , simple menu/inbattle menu translation would be very convenient.

I'm not very good but if you're still looking for translators, I think I can handle menu and possibly item translations. Normally I'd back off and let someone who has actual experience do this but Rocket Slime is kinda niche and not likely to get noticed for this kind of thing, the first game on GBA had a translation in progress at some point but it just kinda died off and faded away into obscurity.
