edited, and when I installed it as a CIA it didn't boot (obviously)
Well I believe you should just install the original USA version unedited (if the rom is a lot bigger than the original size it probaly wouldn't load) then use/install a update for smash on 1.1.4 or 1.1.5 as there are cia versions of these that were rebuilt for saltysd that can be used for custom music and other types/hacks on the 1.1.4 or 1.1.5 updates for smash.

ok but hold on how do you do custom music through saltysd, and by that I mean the file structure

would you just do SaltySD/smash/sound/bgm/snd_bgm_A02_SMB_Chika_3DS.nus3bank

You mimics the games file structure.
First you create 2 folders for the hacks to be in, Saltysd and Smash, in the smash folder you mimick the games file structure so for music it would be saltysd/smash/sound/bgm
I putted the saltysd and smash folders in the example cause those are the 2 folders you should set saltysd up with. But the folder structure should be sound/bgm after the smash folder. Then you put whatever music file you want in the bgm file.
You download music from brawlcustommusic
In smash 3ds's format.
Doesn't the OP's post in page 1 explain how to do all of this?

I made one for Mega Lucario from another Brawl mod.

How would the folder structure on SaltySD be for these files?

The CSS stuff in my download goes in /smash/ui/replace/chr and ui_character_db.bin goes in /smash/param/ui

Has anybody been having trouble with classic mode? It crashes a lot.
Also, the menu song sometimes won't play at all, I'm assuming it is a problem with the .nus3bank file itself, but did anyone get this problem as well?

Hmm no changes

For example if I wanted to replace Wario's default character portrait its name is chr_00_Wario_XX.tex (XX being 01-08 which is the number of costumes every one has which is 8)
You would also have to make a cache.bin if you want to test faster as well.

You have to rename the files to whatever CSP slot you want to replace.

Turns out I skipped like half the guide in the OP and didn't have all of the game's files, that's why the silly questions, funny enough I still was able to edit most tracks and voices
my bad guys.

That's strange, you don't need all of the game's files on your SD card to replace stuff. But I'm glad you got it working.

No, not the SD but didn't get them at all. That's why I didn't know the names of the folders I needed to replace or even how to put them on SaltySD other than sound>bgm>etc
Thanks for your help

So, once I install the update on emuNAND, since I now have everything properly placed on my SD Card, it should work, correct?

Awesome! I spent hours working on this, so hopefully it goes well! (I...basically manually installed most currently available character mods in...I really hope this works, or my weekend was wasted. If it did though...yay!)

Hey guys, I'm working a pretty big aesthetic ROM hack. I'm looking for someone who has way too much time on their hands, and who knows how to Smash ROM hack. I need someone to take my Smash and 1.1.5 update CIA files, which are both decrypted, extract them, (which I can't do myself, due to my shitty Windows computer) install some custom music, and send it back to me NOT recompiled, as I'll be doing a lot more work on it. I would really appreciate someone doing this, as it would give me more time to work on the cool stuff. I'd feature your name in the credits, of course. Shoot me a PM if you're interested, and thanks again!
