Hello, I am thinking about starting a business of hacking other's 3ds systems as a job. My first question, is it legal to install hax and cfw that allow piracy? Secondly, what should I offer and for what price? I know I'm probably going to do packages that the customer can select from like if they wanted a9lh it would be additional $30 or something like that.

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread.

Who will pay for that ?
Hardmod -> ok
Install CFW -> lol nope
I know some would pay for a9lh, or if they are on 10.6 or 10.7 to have hax installed. And I was thinking about doing hard mods as well. I just need to get a new iron.

People already offer services similar to this in the Trading Area. Just keep in mind that people have gotten nailed by Nintendo for modding Wiis with the intent of piracy.
Should I be fine as long as I don't imply that the services will be used for piracy?

I believe most people would be willing to pay for downgrading. Getting OoT+Powersave is a around 40 bucks entry that not everyone is willing to pay since they have no use for those after a downgrade. Meaning: If the downgrade service costs 20 bucks, I can see why people would do it.

Circumventing copy protection schemes in the USA is illegal under the DCMA. No exceptions.
So if I just do a donwngrade and give them directions on how to it themselves would be ok? since I'm not directly circumventing the copy protection.

Btw ,if something unexpected happens, say a brick, everything is over. You lose all the money youve gained and lose all future customers. That is my worst fear.

its really not legal, also you would never get enough customers to make a living from it. also what if you break something? more money down the drain.

seriously, just get a real job

I actually am in the process of applying for jobs. Also, I'm a teen and was thinking about it as a side business. I started another, much riskier business of repairing phones, and made a decent profit until the seller wouldn't refund a broken screen I bought. The worst that can happen with the 3ds is a brick, and that rarely happens and can be fixed with a hardmod.
