Hacking Question: From 10.6 to ? and Rxtools+Menuhax to ???

I'm wondering what is the best option for a 3ds that has the 10.6 nand ( I guess that downgrading it ) but what cfw should I use to be able to play online ?

Also I got another 3ds that has the 9.2 nand and 10.5 emunand , I used the rxtools and the menuhax , now that it's patched what option is left to be play to play online ?

Emunand was never patched. I think you just need to update it.
You will need to downgrade to 9.2 sysNAND if you want to use CFW.

I recommend downgrading the 10.6 3ds to 9.2, then install arm9loaderhax instead of a CFW and you can update back up to the latest firmware version (at the time of writing that is 10.7.0-32 X, or just 10.7) without an emuNAND and still have ARM9 access to the system only seconds after you press the power button.

It doesn't matter what CFW you are using. Just get the right .cia and you should be fine. Also you can just update your emuNAND to the newest version and you'll be able to play online, use eShop..

The way you install A9LH is risky. You have to downgrade all the way to 2.1, then dump your OTP, and you can restore a NAND dump (made before taking the plunge to 2.1) back to where you were. That's the risk. You then use the OTP to compile A9LH as .3dsx, then run that through the HBL. Then you profit.

EDIT: ARM9 is more privileged than ARM11.

Yes. 10.7 will patch menuhax when you install the update on sysNAND, but you're installing it on your emuNAND.

Yes, and people have bricked. But if you follow the guide (https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Get-Started) everything will (most likely) go smoothly. Trust me, I did it!

You can do with your emuNAND whatever you want! You can downgrade it, update it without any risk that your system will brick!



Your system will brick when you mess with your REAL system firmware (sysNAND). Your sysNAND will still stay at 9.2.0 if you update your emuNAND or downgrade, so you will always be able to use menuhax.
When you install A9LH you mess a lot with your sysNAND, that's why it is so risky. 1 mistake and you'll brick.

True, but when it's installed, you have (almost) ultimate brick protection! All you must do is set Decrypt9WIP as any button on your 3ds, and press that button when the 3ds boots up (which is easy). Decrypt9WIP allows you to restore your NAND, so if your 3ds bricks, all you've got to do is hold, say, Y on boot, and choose restore sysNAND under sysNAND options.

I remember that shocking moment when I downgraded to 2.1.0 and had a black screen. I thought I bricked my console. I turned it off, took out my SD, turned on and it worked!

Yeah, I had that same moment! And for a while, I kept my 3ds on 2.1 just for the sake of having a very low firmware version!

Yes. you'll need a hard mod to restore your NAND if you make a mistake, but that's not easy to do if you follow the steps correctly! I linked to the guide in another post, by the way....

If you decide to install arm9loaderhax and only use sysNAND (which is what I did, for emuNAND is rendered completely useless) you can update your sysNAND all the way to 10.7 or whatever the latest version is and access the eshop as per usual, no need to delete your .cia files! Obviously if you decide to go with the emuNAND route (meaning, instead of permanent CFW on sysNAND, true cold booting into emuNAND) you can update that and access the eshop, but not on sysNAND in this scenario.
