I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere, so I thought I'd create a thread for it.

My old 3DS is on 9.9.

Is there a way to install CFW OR downgrade to a version between 9.0 and 9.2?

I have no NAND backup, and I don't intend to hardmod, so if that is the only solution, then I'll do without.

Thanks

Yes. So long as you can get into the hb menu.
Edit: Ninja'd, twice today.

Aight thanks, what entrypoints are there for 9.9? I think Browser entrypoint is dead, but I heard about the slider thing. I think I have OOT now that I think about it, actually, but I'd like to know if there's still a browser one available.

Browserhax works fine, use yellows8's bypass method.

Hey, I don't seem to be having luck with Sysupdater. Every version I've tried to use except for Safesysupdater has crashed upon boot. I'd use the safesysupdater but I've read that you should only use it for checking your files in one guide.

Sometimes all the text loads, and sometimes only some of the text shows up. When the text does load, it's garbled.

I've tried both SliderHax and HomeMenuHax, both to no avail.

Safesysupdater has been fixed iirc. What it used to do was downgrade the titles in the wrong order, but that was fixed recently.

Literally just keep trying to open (latest version) until it finally works that happens to everyone and can range up to 50 tries or 5 tries just have patience and keep it up

I've started the downgrade via Safesysupdater now, so too late, Vin, it seems to be going well though. The CIAs are coming up with 'Done' next to them one by one, so hopefully it'll be alright.

How did it turn out?
I updated my 4.5 3DS and my 6.0 2DS to 10.7, and then I downgraded them both successfully to 9.2 with ootHax. It even booted SafeSysUpdater first try on both systems.

It is possible to downgrade from 9.9, but I recommend downgrading on 10.7 with Cubic Ninja or Oot, because the newer downgrade tools are MUCH more stable.

Huh, could've swore I made another post, maybe I forgot to click 'Post Reply'?

Anyway, it worked perfectly, 9.9 to 9.2. I have rxtools installed now, menuhax and stuff.

Might use this as my 3DS for use outside. I don't like taking my Zelda one places due to worry of damage, plus I don't really like playing it because it's a fingerprint magnet.
