I was intending to buy a PS4 bundled with GTA5 and was wondering if its firmware is 1.76. Are there any ps4 that are not bundled with games and stuff that has 1.76 firmware? any way to tell like a number on the back?

if the firmware is less than 1.76 any way to update the firmware without overshooting to the current firmware?

can the exploit be run on a lower firmware? <1.76?

Are there any info or news that there is a chance theyll release a hack for higher firmware?

There's not really any way to tell what firmware PS4s are on (as of right now) beyond bundles at this point, so the only way you'll be able to tell is via bundles.

The only way to update to just 1.76, as of right now, is through updates on game discs. I don't think there are any official lists around just yet though, but as far as I know the one exploit can be used on <1.76 as well so it shouldn't matter too much if you get a PS4 with <1.76.

And no, there hasn't been any news for higher firmware support yet.

http://gxarena.com/Firmwares/PS4/ this site provides all firmwares for ps4, the day one launch bundles are 100% below 1.76, knack and killzone bundle come with day one firmware, then just manually update to 1.76... no game needed.

You can update to 1.76 over USB (it's what I did) just be aware that you need the FULL firmware package (which is a few hundred megs) and not just the update file (which is like ~100MB-200MB) on the USB stick, boot it to recovery mode then install from USB.

The PS4 playground used to load the exploits ONLY works on 1.76 -- I had to update from 1.71 to be able to use it.
